What's the word on new Athletic Director?
Nothing has been mentioned of this. We have been without a full time AD since December 2, 2014. We are nearing April and not a peep out of anyone. Is UAB considering dropping the interim for Shannon? Is UAB even looking for an AD? When was the last search committee meeting? Is there even a search committee any more? Will UAB have an athletic department to be directed? (ok, last question was complete hyperbole)

It was mentioned in the task force meetings that the AD search would not be completed until after the task force's recommendations were found. That was before the can was kicked once again.
No AD worth 2 hoots would come to UAB right now unless they only cared about basketball & shared Watts vision for the university.
And the answer to the last question is no we won't have an athletic department too much longer if Watts remains in charge. We will get kicked out of CUSA & will not have anywhere to go.

My thoughts are either take the Interim label off Shannon or make Hasse AD and coach. If we do that though, Hasse needs to be making about $1 million a year.

I wouldn't be opposed to Murry. And if we can't get football in 2016, Haase's salary needs to be doubled. He got a sick $37,500 bonus for pulling the upset Thursday, but if we are truly going to bolster our position, he needs to be making 7 figures. Of course, that's assuming continued success in the program. Should we make the tournament again next year, a sizable raise (and for the assistants too) must be considered.

Murry should not come here as AD until football is restored.
If he does prior to then, he would be crapping on his father's grave.

I just can't see Murry being an AD. Too stubborn and controlling. Or at least he was as UAB coach. I can't see him as a consensus guy.
What about Aaron Jordan? Some won't like the idea because he has been tainted by working inTuscaloosa, but he still seems to be connected to UAB, is basketball centric, and has several years experience working in the AD office. Did a great job at. UAB.
I've seen him at UAB games still.

If he would take it Watson Brown would be great as AD only.

Yeah, when the BoT crapped on us he could run the clock and try to squeak it out as time ran out.

Any AD that takes the position without football will be viewed by everyone as anti-football. Doesn't matter how they actually feel.
We need Watts gone first before any permanent AD is selected.

Can UAB go 10 years without a full time AD? Unless the BOT turns on him, he isn't going anywhere until he is vested in the TRS at his level of pay.

It has been mentioned that Brophy would take the job no matter how f'ed up it is right now.
In other news, that didn't make the filter.

I can't speak for him, but I do know his wife's 2 sisters have moved to Huntsville and perhaps their parents as well. (BTW, All 3 sisters were Golden Girls while at UAB). Since the girls are close, it may be difficult to get them to move.

Yeah, Huntsville is like the other side of the world. I think they do have an airport though, perhaps he could still see them from time to time.
