Depends on the criteria they are using to determine this.

And does anyone believe that after Virginia's great season this year, VCU is that state's most popular team. And Memphis is not Tennessee's most popular team. West Tennesee maybe.

I don't buy Creighton over Nebraska either.

I can guarantee you that if you poll the entire state of Tennessee, Memphis would come in behind Tennessee, probably Vandy as well. Again, this includes Central and East Tennessee where they don't even recognize Memphis as a part of the state.

Maybe....but Nebraska has 3 times as many students. That's a lot more alumni than Creighton.

I won't argue that Creighton has had more success and is the better basketball program, I'm just not sure it is the most popular in Nebraska.

Agreed...but I've been to games at both, and work with several grads from both. I definitely think (based on observation) that Creighton has more bball support.
Bball at Nebraska is treated like it is at many SEC schools...as a minor distraction from football

It's most definitely UAB related. Are you not surprise UAB is not the most popular college basketball team in the State of Alabama?

What about the Seawolves of U of Alaska - Anchorage? They host the "Great Alaskan Shootout" which UAB played in and I think won once.

According to the site popularity was determine by using Google searches, Facebook fans, Twitter followers, attendance, and other metrics. Apparently no one in Alaska uses these social features or attend games...lol
