NBE fans are in full meltdown mode "Glorified Mid Major talk"
As was stated on here before, WHY O' WHY is Quo over here running down the AAC, when he is obviously needed on the "Holy Land of Hoops" board (aka NBE) to CHEER THOSE GUYS UP! 03-lmfao

Seriously, Quo, they need your 1 page rambling diatribes on NBE relevance now more than ever buddy!! Show them their RPIs at the bottom of the conference! LOL

Your new board to rule over, Quo. You've found your purpose in life. Convince those guys!!

http://holy land of hoops.com /forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4391&sid=e0e590d2a7ef1f5dc1b43b118c3a0811 (take out the spaces)

"Glorified mid major talk headed our way...And it will be difficult to argue against it. This has turned into a trainwreck. Thank you X for living up to your end of the bargain and good luck to Butler. But this is an unmitigated disaster for the conference. Providence certainly didn't do a thing once again when it mattered so I apologize on our behalf." - dmac80

LMAO!!

"Re: Glorified mid major talk headed our way... Yea, at this point that is what we are. Time to add Dayton and VCU." - DudeAnon

HAHAHAHAHA

"I am somewhere between the "everything is ok camp" and "conference is a failure camp" March is what matters. Imo, that is not an arguable point. However it's only year 2. We do have to start making elite 8s and Final 4s and fast, or the comittee will start treating us like the MVC, and deservedly so." - Randy

The nBE is a conference filled with RPI fluffers. For the second year in a row, the committee has taken too many teams, and over seeded them, only for the nBe teams to make the committee look like a bunch of fools.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

To the committee's credit, they probably didnt catch a lot of nBE basketball, considering noone knows what channel they are on.

Georgia St and Lehigh. Those are the last two teams Xavier has defeated to make the sweet 16. It's almost disgusting how lucky that program gets with their NCAA tournament draws.

And Butler loses the battle of Indiana.

Since the new Big East was created as a basketball only leauge two years ago, they have received 10 NCAA bids and won seven NCAA tournament games.

The American has received six NCAA bids and won 10 NCAA tournament games.

When all you have is basketball, and you get a ton of teams in because the P-5 want some cannon fodder, and you barely draw flies on your tv deal - then yes, the wheels are coming off.

Not that we are gloating over in AAC-ville - but at least we had a ref robbery and a terrible Kentucky draw to hang our hat on...

Xavier always goes a round deeper than expected. And Xavier was hardly the most blessed team from the basketball gods this tournament (I can think of two other examples).

Cincinnati played a great game but I think the refs started siding with Kentucky toward the end of the game....

Eh, Kentucky's just better, like they are clearly over every team not named Arizona. And maybe them too.

Next time Cincy should make their free throws and layups.

Georgie State was sure giving them a run for their money. 04-cheers

Outside of Villanova, how was the Big East embarrassing? Butler lost to a 3 seed in overtime (a blocked shot away from winning in regulation), St. John's lost to an under seeded SDSU (admittedly by double digits), Georgetown dodged the popular upset pick, Xavier is winning games, and Providence lost to a drastically under seeded Dayton team. Sure, it hasn't been the finest tournament for the Big East, but it hardly has been an unmitigated disaster for the Catholics.

That wasn't what they were saying on TNT... (where Nova was pretty much getting called out for killing the NBE.)

Consider this. Six teams enter and one beats Georgia State to survive to the next weekend...

before getting killed by Arizona.

That's the NBE. 07-coffee3

You're right Caltex1 and C2.

I don't know who the original Caltex was.

There are several teams that can make the case of under seeded and others that can make the case they should have been invited to the tournament. Regardless, you play who you have in front of you.

When is the last time Providence, St. Johns, Georgetown actually made some noise in the NCAA tournament?

Very touching to see so much concern about Big East basketball on the AAC board. I guess when the AAC puts two teams in and wins one game, there isn't much left to do?

The nBE was seeded so that they should have 2 teams in the S16, and 1 team to the final four.

Instead, they get 1 team into the S16. Not one of the two over seeded teams above, but a team who skates in by getting to play an 11 seed and a 14 seed. And the 14 seed gave them everything they wanted.

Like I said, RPI fluffers. They look so good on paper, and then evaporate come tournament time.

The Big East shines in November/December thanks to strong coaching, team basketball, and an emphasis on 4-year players. Teams from the power conferences have a lot more raw "star" power, at least the last couple of years. That star power translates to W's in March for the power conferences and L's for the Big East.

I don't think it's a huge deal, and I really don't understand the AAC boards' obsession with slamming the Big East. We're in this together, fighting for power from the Autonomous 5. Wins from any non-P5 schools should be celebrated, because it gives both conferences more leverage.
