LSU choke job
I believe in giving the winner credit, but when you miss your last 12 FG attempts and last 6 free throw attempts and lose by 1, you choooooked.

They built their lead with power in the paint, then tried to close the game with timid play under the rim and jumpers. The charity stripe collapse was totally mental, and epic. And, what is even worse is that N.C. State didn't even look like they wanted to take it until the final couple of minutes. They left the door wide open for L.S.U. to close them out and the Tigers still failed.

Hey after watching NCSU meltdown the exact same way to St. Louis last year, I am glad to be on the other side this time. Using my favorite quotes about NCSU "Survive and Advance" - Coach Jimmy V & "One thing about NCSU, there is no lead to great for them to overcome and no lead to great for them to blow, there try to make it exciting at the end" Coach Lefty Dreisell

Funny, I thought Mike Gottfried beat Williams, Coach K, Boheim and some guy named Pitino this season. Four hall of fame coaches. 01-wingedeagle

Hope Louisville does the ACC proud today! Would love to see the ACC go 6-0 into this weekend.

No problem, NCSU fans have seen more defeats pulled at of the Jaws of Victory. I swear Pack fans are the closet thing to Cub fans I have ever seen. If there will be a weird scenario, it will happen. I am actually surprised it was SMU that lost on a basket interference on a three, that just seems something that is so NC State. Still love my Wolfpack despite putting so many of old alumni in the ground with heart attacks from their play. I am so glad Louisville is in the ACC. I always thought they were a perfect ACC fit ever since I was in college in the 80's. 04-cheers

Utah blew a big lead last night by going 7 minutes without making a FG. They survived because they made most of their FTs and SFA didn't knock down enough of their own shots.

While I don't think it affected the ball going in, I think a case could be made there was offensive goal tending on that play

Well after the game, and when TBS was signing off, they showed this angle in wrap up, that I don't recall seeing. I paused it take the pic as best I could (my DVR doesn't do slow motion so it was hard ot capture the exact moment), but I think he touched the ball. If I could pause it a frame before this you could see it better, but I gave up after a while. But in the video, you can see him slightly touch it, and the ball change directions. Now I think it goes in either way, but it was much closer than some of the other angles make you think, if not outright goaltending.

Sure looked like goaltending. Plus the shooter traveled. Plus the shooter was fouled/tackled. Plus the guy who fed the shooter was fouled.

For those who thought Abu touched the ball -- nope.

Here's a Vine that shows a good angle:

Mike Gottfried is an ESPN football analyst. He is not in any way associated with NC State.

Can I interest you in Pitt football? I swear we have suffered some of the most devastating and bizarre losses in the history of college football. It has become so bad that when we blew a 25 point lead in the last seven minutes of our bowl game this past year, I barely batted an eyelash as I half expected it to happen. And I fully expected it to happen after Houston's third or fourth consecutive successful onside kick recovery.

When that happens to you and it doesn't rank in the top 10 of your most disappointing moments in the last 25 years, that paints a very dark picture of your programs most recent history.

Pitt's Rose Bowl defeats are tough to read about as a neutral fan. A narrow defeat to Stanford when Gibby Welch (underrated running back in CFB history) bottled up. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there exists the nuclear destruction the USC Thundering Herd dealt to Pitt of 47-14 and 35-0. Big scores in those days for national powers to deal to each other.
