SEC says---Army Counts as a P-5 Opponent. Navy does not.
Well, they never mention Navy, but that's effectively what the SEC is saying with its new pronouncement that games with Indy teams Army, BYU, and Notre Dame will be considered P5 matchups when it comes to complying with the SEC policy that each member must play a P5 game in OOC. Dissed yet again.

For the SEC to say playing Army is better and is not as "bad" if you lose against any AAC, most MWC and some CUSA schools is just a load of crap to not level the playing field.

Well it's a made up thing so they can include and exclude anyone they wish. Show me where in any of the bylaws of NCAA FBS football you find the term P5 or Gof5.

Just replace the term P5 with something else if you want and it will have exactly as much meaning. The SEC has mandated that all teams schedule at least one sugar dumpling. They have announced that Army is a sugar dumpling but Navy is not.

Well, I guess this is great for Navy's schedule power.

If the commisioners don't throw a fit about this I don't know what will cause them to act. This is rediculous

The sec still considers byu as a g5. Acc was the one that changed their mind on them. So army is p5 for sec and byu for acc. No one can say there isn't a genuine effort to undercut the AAC when you combine this with the obvious ncaa snubs the past 2 yrs. So remember navy g5 and afa g5 but the least competitive of the academies army is on the same level as Alabama. Laughable!

Ya and when the talking heads start talking about "quality wins" over P5 teams like Kentucky, Vandy, Wake Forest, Wazzu, and Kansas, we'll just point to Army and BYU.

I made a post about this on Reddit.

Let's make a stink about it.

Navy would have been listed as a "P5" if it remained independent, if I follow this logic correctly.

Does the fact that Army is suddenly a power football program improve opponents' SOS? I still think the committee would look unfavorably on playing a program that can barely hold Yale under 50 points.

Urm not the SEC reps on that Committee. Please remove blinders and see the lies for what they are. This is yet another BS move to get credit for quality wins and not have to play teams who can actually beat them. 07-coffee3

So if the AAC adds Army will the SEC then change their minds and it won't count?

The committee would have to. Say Tulane whips army and byu and say Washington st. we should and could scream all season about those p5 victories and no p5 loving media heads can say a word.

Does Navy consider doing a Boise? They probably would get a TV Contract with CBS or Fox and be able to draw P5 fodder game money.

I actually think this could be real bad news for the AAC. Essentially they are labeling independents as P5's thus this may give a little more of a push for UConn and Cincy to go nBE/indy. Likely, no, possible....yes.
