At 6-7 and whatever weight he is now and not training fort he 40, I don't think he runs a 4.5.

RE: Richard Ross Participating in ODU's Pro Day
Ross is also a freak athlete.
Like ridiculously, insanely athletic.
No one 6"6 can jump as high as him outside of maybe jordan and a select few others.
With his body size and speed, he could probably run around a 4.6.
He's probably faster than just about every tight end in the nfl.
The question is whether he can play football, block and take hits, not whether he can run a fast enough 40 to play in the league because I have zero doubt he can do that and then some.
His jump, cutting ability in the shuttle and 40 times should all be elite compared to other college te's.

Richard Ross Participating in ODU's Pro Day
Jason Pierre Paul ran a 4.64 at 6'5 270 at the combine. Roughly what TH ran.
My money is on Richard Ross against both of them in a sprint.

With training specifically designed to run fast in the 40, including technique and countless times going over how to get off the blocks.

Yeah, and if it turns out Ross wants to focus on football after the NIT is over, I'm sure he'll put in some work too.

Richard really doesn't need to train for the 40 he has been doing the 94 foot sprint for the last 5 years.

In Birmingham talking to Odell who was scouting for his team. He was telling us about Ross making a run at the NFL. I was a little surprised, but he's such a great athlete. The problem is football is so much more advanced than ever been. Maybe a practice squad would make it easier for a player, such as Ross to develop. Will coaches have the patience to work with a player who is so far behind with their fundamental skill set. Hope he gets a chance to play on Sundays.

Ross is not 6'7. He is listed at 6-6. That is basketball height. In real life he is closer to 6-4 1/2.

I don't know, I've talked to him a few times. He's definitely not 6'7 but he's a big dude, at least 6'5 1/2

This doesn't really matter being that he's not running right now anyway?
Meaning the debate on how fast he can run..

RE: Richard Ross Participating in ODU's Pro Day
I have no clue what he runs but the comment of "at least" a 4.45 made me chime in. Not saying he isn't athletic (obviously) but that speculation is really out there. I mean come on man.
Do you realize (some of you do) that of the 32 DB's at this year's combine only 9 ran a 4.45 or better. That's crazy to believe that a 6'5"+ guy would be in that category. Again, he would be a top 5 pick as a TE if that was true. Even with him not playing the sport in 5+ years. That number is just way out of left field.

6 feet 5 inches tall, Usain Bolt, held the world record in the 100 meters and 200 meters. Olympic Champion. Widely regarded as the fastest person ever. Height has nothing to do with how fast you can run. Im gonna be nice and not call you delusional.

Well, you pretty much did just call him delusional. Since I don't like bullies, I'll be happy to inform you that height and/or width does have influence on speed. Do some research on drag if you don't understand.
Bolt was a freak of nature and it doesn't mean that tall people can't be fast.
Ever wonder why sports cars aren't tall and boxy? Aerodynamics.
I'm not calling you delusional, but I don't like Internet bullies either.

Im no internet bullie look back at the beginning and you will see whom called whom delusional. Anyway Richard Ross is a pretty good freak of nature too. The argument was that it would be crazy for a 6'5" guy to run a 40 time of 4.45. Bolt is just one small example of it. It happens often.

I'm as pro-Ross as the next guy, but if the comp you gotta pull for a guy like him is Usain freaking Bolt you *may* be overselling the case just a bit.
"Dude, he's 6'5", he'd be an athletic freak if he could run like that."
"Usain Bolt is tall."
"Oh, well, yes. Of course, my mistake."

Ok how is this Deron Mayo former ODU "defensive end at 230lbs. ran a 4.27 40 according to Rich Radford. Now that isn't Bolt and that is a defensive end. That is Joey Galloway wide receiver 40 time. Big and tall people can run fast. It happens all the time.

You were the one that said a 6'5" guy could not be in the 4.5 category.

RE: Richard Ross Participating in ODU's Pro Day
I don't think a 4.5ish 40 time is out of the question for Richard. He's an elite athlete, with a track background, given it's been a while.
Basketball players are the best athletes in the world in my opinion, you see basketball players end up in the NFL on the regular, never the other way around.
Ross is also in Basketball shape not Football shape, so I think he would run faster now than after he would have to put on another 20ish pounds to take the beating football puts on a player.
If I were an NFL GM I would take a chance on Richard, he's shown me athleticism I've rarely seen from a guy his size, paired with a good work ethic, and good character from everything I've seen and heard. He could project anywhere from a WR, TE, LB, who knows it would all depend on his learning curve getting back into football. Just watching the Indianapolis Colts for a while, in the last 3 years or so they've given at least 2 Basketball players and a Rugby player a shot that I can think of.
