W Tennis: strange day, nice win, interesting headline
Yesterday's matched was scheduled for outdoors, then moved indoors, then moved outdoors again, with Rice winning 5-2 at the GRB.

The headline on the Rice story sounds like something from the glory days of Variety:
IP ADDS HERD TO CLINCH STREAK
I had to read the headline a couple of times to be sure which words are nouns and which are verbs.

Check out the picture of Ip on the riceowls site. The picture looks like she is getting ready to hit the ball, but her hand placement on the racquet looks wrong. I am trying to figure out whether the picture is showing her follow thru, after she already hit the ball.

It looks to me like she's about to hit a forehand slice. The grip does look a little strange, but I think it's just a continental grip with her wrist bent backwards in preparation for the shot.

Compare to this picture of Andy Roddick that I found:

On Friday, W Tennis defeated Yale, 4-0.
Today, W Tennis defeated #34 William and Mary, 5-2.
Team improves to 9-7. Next up, a rematch at Baylor on Wednesday.
