Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
GOP Making Her “Sit In The Back Of The Bus” To Get A Confirmation Vote…

The shameless race baiting continues. In the world of the Dems, a person of color can't be judged on any basis besides their color. Their qualifications or history can't be a reason to not support them. Their color is the only issue that matters. Pathetic.

Quote:WASHINGTON — Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Wednesday that Loretta Lynch, the first African-American woman to be nominated for U.S. attorney general, is being treated by Republicans the way Rosa Parks was treated in 1955 when she wanted a seat on a bus: sent to the back.

President Barack Obama nominated Lynch in November, but she has been waiting months for her confirmation vote. She’s waited more than three times as long as it took the Senate to confirm Attorney General John Ashcroft under President George W. Bush, and twice as long as it took the Senate to confirm current Attorney General Eric Holder.

As other Democrats have been saying for weeks, Durbin said there’s no reason for the delays, and suggested Republicans are on the wrong side of civil rights history.

“Loretta Lynch, the first African-American woman nominated to be attorney general, is asked to sit in the back of the bus when it comes to the Senate calendar,” said the Illinois Democrat. “That is unfair. It’s unjust. It is beneath the decorum and dignity of the U.S. Senate.”

RE: Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
Maybe it has nothing to do with her. Maybe it has everything to do with the GOP playing hardball with the President?

RE: Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
So Why didn't Durbin insist on quickly confirming Her when His Own party was "Driving the Bus" when Holder announced His stepping down. More Democrat Smokescreen.

The Dems stonewalled everything when they had the majority in the Senate. They even went so far as to change the Senate rules to get their way. Now they are on the other side and predictably whining like stuck pigs. Of course they have to play the race card. It is what they do.

Considering that she is replacing an African American, I figured they would play up the gender card more. I mean, that will be their nominee's election strategy here soon.

They should play them both, you know, cry about how Republicans want to see her barefoot and in the kitchen always making dinner or washing dishes - oh yeah, also without paid for contraceptives!!

I should become a Democratic strategist!

RE: Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
With that attitude, does Durbin think that the patriarchal conservative oppressors in the Senate would be falling over themselves confirm Loretta Lynch, or something?

Little Dick Durbin is a typical hypocritical lib. He voted against Condi Rice as the first black woman Sec of State. The race baiting is nonstop from the Libs now.

RE: Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
FLASHBACK: Dick Durbin Sought To Block Bush’s Appeals Court Nominee For Being “Especially Dangerous” Because “He Is Latino”…

Durbin was against minorities before he was for them.

Quote: When Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin played the race card Wednesday against Republicans blocking Loretta Lynch’s attorney general nomination, he must have forgotten all of the times he opposed Republican minority nominees.

In one of those instances of obstinance, Durbin’s Senate staff submitted a memo in 2001 asserting that George W. Bush U.S. Appeals Court’s nominee Miguel Estrada was an “especially dangerous” prospect because “he is Latino.”

On Wednesday, Durbin took to the Senate floor to accuse Republicans of forcing Lynch, who is black, “to sit in the back of the bus” until a vote on a controversial sex trafficking bill is resolved.[…]

It was Nov. 7, 2001, when a staffer in Durbin’s office sent a memo summarizing a meeting with “representatives of various civil rights groups” to discuss Estrada’s nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

The memo showed that one of the reasons Democrats wanted to block confirmation of the Honduras-born Estrada was because he is Latino.

The meeting “focused on identifying the most controversial and/or vulnerable judicial nominees, and a strategy for targeting them,” Durbin’s staffer wrote in the memo which was published only in Nov. 2003, months after Estrada withdrew his name from consideration after a protracted battle with Democrats.

“They also identified Miguel Estrada [D.C. Circuit] as especially dangerous, because he has a minimal paper trail, he is Latino, and the White House seems to be grooming him for a Supreme Court appointment,” Durbin’s staffer wrote.[…]

Besides his opposition to Estrada, Durbin opposed two other minority Bush nominees. In 2005, he voted against Bush’s nominee for secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice. Also in 2005, he was outspoken in his opposition of Bush’s U.S. Court of Appeals nominee, Janice Rogers Brown. Both Rice and Brown were eventually confirmed. Like Lynch, both are black.

RE: Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
Dem Sen. Dick Durbin Refuses To Apologize For Saying GOP Forcing Loretta Lynch To “Sit In The Back Of The Bus”…

Is his lack of decency a surprise?

Quote: A top Senate Democrat refused to apologize on Thursday for saying Republicans are making the first black female nominee to be the nation’s attorney general “sit in the back of the bus” by delaying her confirmation vote.

Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) made the racially charged comment on Wednesday on the Senate floor to protest the delays that Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch has faced.

Thursday morning, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) went to the Senate floor to demand an apology. […]

“It was offensive and unnecessary, and I think he owes this body, Ms. Lynch and all Americans an apology,” McCain concluded.

But Durbin, who spoke immediately afterwards, refused to apologize and ignored McCain’s central complaint. Instead, he reiterated his argument that Lynch is qualified and that there is no good reason not to give her a vote.

“I’m not going use any pejorative terms, other than to say I believe it’s insensitive for the Senate to hold her up for such a lengthy period of time,” he said.

RE: Senator Durbin Compares Loretta Lynch To Rosa Parks,
Sitting on Obammy's appointments is the only Constitutionally acceptable method the Senate has as a wedge against Obammy. The Senate should never again confirm ONE of Obammy's judge or administrative appointments.

It's a protest against his executive orders about immigration. She'll eventually get through, but it won't be anytime soon.

What I also find as funny is Democrats outrage on this - she was nominated in November - did Harry Reid bring her to the Senate for a vote while the Democrats were still in the majority - oh yea, he didn't . Faux outrage.
