Rice successfully defended the double steal with runners at corners. Reeves pump-faked to 2nd to get third base runner to commit, then threw a bullet to third to pick him off.

RE: Rice at UH March 17.
Jordan gives up his first two hits in the 3rd inning, but gets out of a 1st and 3rd, one out jam, thanks to picking off the lead runner when the Coogs took a cue from the LaTech tapes and tried the double steal. Fool me twice, but not a third time!!! Scoreless heading to the top of the fourth inning.

UH started their Fr LHP closer, Seth Romera, and he has effectively shut us down through the first 3 innings, with 4 Ks. Southpaw pitching continues to be our kryptonite. Our opposition is sure to notice.
Byrd struck out.
Reeves grounded out.
Taylor struck out on 3 pitches.
An 8 pitch inning for Romera to retire the heart of our order. Ugh.

Scoreless heading to the bottom of the fourth inning. I'd imagine this will be Jordan's last inning, as he has already gone one inning longer than his longest previous outing.

Good grief-- a single on an 0-2 pitch in the zone. This is the most frustrating aspect of our pitching staff and catching-- we repeatedly throw pitches in the zone when ahead 0-2 and 1-2 in the count. Inexplicable.

Appears our hitting is beginning to decline as the Berkman effect is wearing off.

No, it's left-handed pitching pure and simple.

I've been concerned about that for a while.

Second consecutive bad outing by JWillie. He's suddenly lost his invincibility. Fortunately, I very much doubt Romero can go more than another inning, if even that.
