Sanford Scores 30
SEYMOUR, Ind. If New Albany could have summoned a closer from the bullpen to finish off the most dangerous high school team in Indiana, the No.5 Bulldogs had a turnaround victory for the ages and a sweet postseason win in its glove.

The No.5 Bulldogs couldn’t get the last out. And now they are out.

Down 17-0, down by 15 in the third quarter, down by 7 with less than four minutes left, No.2 Evansville Reitz got the final swing, and connected for a home run than ran New Albany home. The Panthers, shackled for so long, broke loose with a late 12-0 burst to conquer the Bulldogs 64-59 in the afternoon semifinal of the Class 4-A regional at Seymour on Saturday.

Jaelan Sanford scored 30 points, shooting Reitz to a comeback victory. Reitz, one of the highest-scoring teams in state history at 93.6 points per game, didn’t lead until the final two minutes, but the Panthers (27-1) proved they could win by other means than an offensive barrage.
