RE: Shooters???
If Pastner could just get a real center with a 5 to 10 ft shot? But he does not recruit legit centers?

No, he doesn't believe in shooters.

You joke, but many coaches (hell NBA GM's) are more enamored with "athletes" than players good at a particular skill set.

It drives me crazy.

"2014 Brewster Academy combo guard Jordan Manse will walk-on at Memphis next year, a source confirmed. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Texas-native was originally a member of the class of 2013, but went the prep school route after failing to pick up an offer at the Division I level.

Manse had interest from Air Force, Hawaii, Murray State and North Carolina-Greensboro while at Lake Travis High School in Austin, TX. He was twice named District offensive MVP, and was also a Texas All-State selection his senior year. Manse played AAU ball for the Texas D1 Ambassadors.

“He’s a superior three-point shooter,” said Max Ivany, founder of D1 Nation. “He’s got a great stroke. He’s a transition athlete that can play above the rim. I think he definitely fits in with the style of play at Memphis.”

Overall, Manse is the third D1 Nation ambassador to join the Tigers, following incoming East Mississippi CC guard Avery Woodson and former Memphis great DJ Stephens.

"He was always an excellent three-point shooter and an above the rim athlete," Ivany stressed. "Both traits will serve him well in coach Pastner's uptempo system."

Well, wouldn't be the first zero star that has been thrust into the rotation.

Furthermore, why issue a presser like that for a walk on if there weren't some expectations?

Any yet sadly, no one was trying to talk people down from expectations...

"Jordan Manse and Avery Woodson best two perimeter shooters on the team, not even close.

Jordan Manse looks like the real deal. I haven't seen a handle like that In quite some time. How does a player of his caliber walk on?

I think that Jordan Manse could get more playing time than any walk-on we have had.

Don't sleep on the kid from Brewster who turned down other D1 offers to play for the Tigers. I heard he may be one of the best pure shooters in the country and really athletic but flew under the radar. Backcourt by committee but hopefully somebody steps up.
