Well said.

This is why I cherish having discussions with friends that come from a different political spectrum. In the end, my friends and I have a negligible effect on policy set by the US government.

As I've gotten old I learned that getting mad when someone argues a certain view point really gets me nowhere. Listening and asking questions about a viewpoint is the best thing I can do. I'd rather have a respectful discussion than be apart of a shout fest (which is why I don't watch cable news anymore).

I've read the Myth of the Rational Voter and this talk only confirmed what I think most people already know, politics is irrational because the citizenry is irrational.
