RE: Spring has sprung
Interestingly, when I called for permission to attend the Wedsnesday practice, the girl answering the phone told me only coaches and prospective players are allowed to attend. I referenced the Mlive article and she said permission is not granted by newspaper articles, but only by Coach Fleck. She said he was not available to give permission. She did take my number and promised to call back.

I tried to engage this process last year as well. At that time I was told the only way to attend is if you represented the media.

Can we be making up our minds?

The press release on Football web site says same thing as GAZETTE article - fans can call 24 hours in advance to attend.

RE: Spring has sprung
I've said this many times before in previous seasons... I understand the rationale behind it, I really do. But they need to make this process flow a little more smooth for fans and alums or it's really going to upset some of the die-hards that love to get out and attend some of these practices. I've got a four month old son. I'd love to get out there to Waldo with him on a nice day -- if not this year, then next year. Personally, I've never had any difficult with attending practices myself but I know of others who have. Hopefully they can get some of the kinks worked out and it becomes an easier process for everyone.

RE: Spring has sprung
I'm totally fine with not allowing the public there. But if that's the case you need to come out and say it.

Don't say public can come with 24 hour notice, then ignore getting back to the message until the 24 hour window has closed and say too bad. It's a shady way of coming off as friendly, when there is very little attempt to be so.

See if Ernie gets a call back about attending tomorrow or not.

Ern, you could tell them you're the Bronco beat writer for COURIER-LEADER...

RE: Spring has sprung
She did call back and said I was more than welcome to attend. So that is nice.

What was very interesting was she said she had a list for coaches and a list for prospects. But at that point no list of fans.

I take that to mean only 1 fan asked to attend. That in itself seems to be a telling thing. I realize it is a Wednesday, so all the working folks are busy. But I can remember when the first Saturday of spring practice, a couple hundred fans would crowd onto the upper balconies of the Seelye to get a glimpse of the team.

And the Courier thing is a possible. I see a LOT of Bronco wear out and about in Paw Paw. Saw a hot 17 year old wearing Bronco Football at the Mexican restaurant in Lawrence Saturday.

There is such a good potential for Bronco fan interest in the local area. But they've got to get a little more involved in the regular fans, and not just the big money boosters.

How long have we been doing 9 AM Spring practices?

Don't kids take morning classes anymore?

Oregon made the switch several years back, and some coaches (of course) have copied that model.

Get football related activities done by noonish. Classes in afternoons, and kids go to bed at a more reasonable time because they have to be ready to go earlier in the day.

Since many teams play games at noon, makes sense that you get the body use to activity early in the day.

Proven fact young men of this age perform better in a classroom with a later start time.

Haven't seen any studies about improved football performance from early starts, versus afternoon.

Agree this might lead to better bedtime habits.

I'll be at the Nekton Neon night (probably) and the spring game, but I look forward to some reports from anyone attending some regular practices.

Alabama has won more NCs than Oregon. What time does the Tide practice?

For that matter Ohio State has beaten Nike U. in two bowl games. Do Buckeyes practice at 9 AM?

Half of our games this Fall are at night. Maybe we should have half our Spring practices under the lights (not just 'Nekton Neon Night').

I'll be going to 4 or 5 of them but figured the 1st practice would be more of a shake out vs running some actual plays and seeing who is getting majority of reps. Can't wait to be there though. Also think that you Ernie would make a great DD for the Paw Paw Courier! They may even send you to some away games unlike Mlive...:)

Darius Phillips at corner... hmm...

I'm surprised Asantay Brown doesn't get a shot at CB.
