#FreeUAB is about...

...the notion that UAB should determine what is best for UAB without interference from a BoT stuffed with members that do not want what is best for UAB (self-determination for our school).

...knowledge that REALLY will change your world.

...knowing what we know since Watts "does not know what he does not know." You know. (Come on and laugh with me on this one - that was funny).

...being willing to stand up to the bullies that abuse us and fight back.

...standing up for what is right.

...fighting the power!

...drawing a line in the sand and saying no further.

That is a few to get it started. It is about many things to many people.

Quite simply, the right of autonomous, self-determination of a(n) university to include the student body, the faculty, and the alumni.
And, such university's administration serving said stakeholders WITHOUT the interference of a duplicitous, centralized board of trustees that plays favorites for one of three campuses.

They must have been on a secluded island for the past several months, with no contact with the outside world if they have to ask that question.

Free UAB is about at least getting our own Board of Trustees.

It's knowing that, as a UAB alumnus, I will never again receive a letter from a Bama alumnus on my alma mater's board of trustees telling me why my desires for my university are wrong.

We are a sensitive bunch

You would think if your job is to spread news, you would at least follow stories. But hey, what do I know. I would get fired if I displayed that incompetence in my job. There are 800 stories out there that they can find if they are legitimately asking that question. There is no earth shattering revelation that they are going to find now.

Sometimes a question is asked just to generate conversation. The answer is already known. Sometimes a question is asked just to generate page clicks.

There's a good deal of pressure coming from BBA-member advertisers to cool off on #FreeUAB coverage and go easy on Watts. So far that hasn't worked.

That's the part that's so sickening to me. UAT is in Tuscaloosa not Birmingham therefore those businesses that feel so close to that university should relocate there. It's like trying to force everyone to watch the same channel because you like that channel rather than allowing everyone to watch what they desire.

The sNews has been great. John Archibald, Kyle Whitmire, and Kevin Scarbinsky have been all over it like a pit bull on a poodle. This guy Talty doesn't seem to be shy about reporting unflattering things about Ray the Destroyer and his patrons.

In part that's because the UAB faithful have been good for a huge number of page views since Black Tuesday. Frankly, I think that "what is freeuab about?" is pure clickbait. That's ok, I don't begrudge it, because we're getting a lot of coverage.
