0.28 rating FS1 8:00 pm Big East Championship: Xavier vs #4-Villanova

Lowest rated by a huge margin.

More than actually know it's on their package. I constantly forget we have the channel.

About 85M homes. That is a larger number than those who receive ESPU, ESPNNews and CBS Sports Network. The ratings for the lesser ESPN stations are much worse than ESPN/ESPN2 (even for Power Conference schools) but much better than what FS1 traditionally garners.

Ditto.

Obviously if UC played on the channel I would probably tune in. For me it is on Channel 217 (Direct TV) whereas the ESPN Channels are 206-209. CBS Sports Network is 221.

Yep.

Unlike ESPN, that can use it's main networks to point viewers to their other channels to build the audience and remind viewers of their existence.

RE: Select Weekend TV Ratings
Just curious, but I am curious as to the television ratings XU draws vs. UC (both locally and nationally).

I don't think this is a big secret but I have always believed XU has a loyal following of a fixed number of people (and 9-10K of them fill up Cintas for every home game). Likewise, I believe we have our loyal base but that we have a lot more casual fans who are sitting in front of the TV to watch Bearcat Basketball.

I also think this is reflective in radio as well. Otherwise, I am pretty sure we would be kicked to 55WKRC when both games are on.

Makes the fact they receive $5M/year for a national TV contract (vs. our $2M) all the more frustrating.

RE: Select Weekend TV Ratings
Fox bet the ranch on the new Big East for program content; and the new Big East took the bait. That rating for their championship game should be downright embarrassing considering they had an NCAA #1 seed playing on a Sunday afternoon. UCONN/SMU had 4 times the audience if I read that correctly.

I'm among the first to criticize the AAC for a host of reasons but TV exposure is the name of the game and sticking with ESPN remains a plus. There is no quick fix for the Big East viewership and it will have a debilitating effect upon the conference's visibility and recruiting over the longer term.

What does X care what that rating was? They made the championship game and they are cashing a much larger check than we are for 2 revenue sports.
