The future in basketball
According to Rivals.com the AAC has 10 Rivals 150 recruits coming in next year.
Those 10 are distributed over 5 schools in the conference.

Cincy- #98, #114 (3)
Uconn- #26, #60 (2)
Memphis- #27, #56 (3)
SMU- #68 #127 (3)
Temple- #106, #121 (3)

Cincy, Memphis, SMU, and Temple also bring in another *** star player each in their classes.

All these classes are very good classes.

Now the rest
UCF- Very solid class 4 *** star players with multiple P5 offers (very solid class) (4)
USF- 3 *** star players, one not evaluated (4)
ECU- 2 non rated recruits (2)
Houston- 2 *** star recruits, one not evaluated (3)
Tulane- 2 *** star recruits, one not evaluated (3)
Tulsa- 2 *** star recruits (2)

(all ratings according to rivals to keep it simple)

Most tulsa fans feel like our recruiting cycle isn't totally over yet. We need one more big man. I think SMU is in the same boat.

Maybe the player that might turn out to be the best that wasn't included in the above, is AJ Davis, 3 star transfer from Tennessee, who sat out this year at UCF while redshirting, who will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Sometimes a huge influx of new players works...sometimes it doesn't...but for UCF's sake, they have nothing to lose.

for Memphis, the key will be keeping Austin Nichols and Shaq Goodwin, while integrating the Lawson's

We also need Kedren Johnson to get serious about hoops, kid can be a really solid PG if he'll just get out of his own way...

1 of houston is a 4star on espn, and houston has a highly touted PG transfer who will be eligible next season who was a consensus 4star (rivals150 #94) he was a starter but transferred because he didnt like the coach and "how they used him"

3 of the 4 from usf are 4stars on most other sites not rival (but 1 of them has deferred to a 2016 recruit not a 2015)

RE: The future in basketball
As a Temple alum, I'm REALLY looking forward to this class.
I can't wait till all of us open our new toys. These are very high caliber classes in that top group.
This is Donnie Jones year to put up or shut up. I think he's done very well.
Sampson and Antigua get a little leeway going into their second year. I'm not worried about Houston's recruiting because Sampson has been there. USF... I'm not sure about.
Tulane has a good recruiting class. My question is if Ed Conroy can mold them over 4 years, or if he's even the guy.
Tulsa needs to take the momentum from this year, and join that top group in recruiting. I think Haith has a lot to sell.
ECU is my question mark. I think they've picked it up some... but, they need to ratchet it up more. If they can get Bam Bam that will be a game changer for them. I'd feel a lot better about Lebo if he could land a big fish. I think just getting that first one could open the gates. We'll see... They played great against SMU in the tourney and I think their brand is stronger than ever.

Guys, I just used Rivals as one example just to start discussion.

Love the transfer talk though...

UC still has 1-2 open scholarships to fill for 2015 if they choose to.

USF will also have available a 6'3 PG that was a high 4 star and transferred from Maryland. If Chris Perry returns from his health condition and the two big guys that are coming in both 4 starts by ESPN, then our team will be much better.

ECU is in the midst of a leadership crisis right now that hasn't fully manifested itself yet. Still too many of our fans/alums think all is rosy.

RE: The future in basketball
People are in panic mode and not thinking straight. Fear short circuits the brain and narrows perspective. No reason to believe that Memphis and Uconn will not rebound and be back to their winning ways next year. Tulsa is building a great program and SMU and Cincy are in good shape for the next few years. The sky is not falling. I do consulting and in business you look at institutions that have histories of success. One down year is not the time to sell these schools, but to watch as their management does what it has always done, found ways to make good things happen.

Programs in the AAC were chosen for their potential and ability to win on a regular basis. THis has not changed with the two bids this year. If I was investing, I would put more money down on our basketball schools as only fools would be selling. With our current tv contract and institutional leadership we are going to be just fine going forward.

I don't think people are bashing you for using rivals, but that is one of the worst sites to use. For ECU they 2 unranked commits, but 24/7 has one, Barkley, as a 3 star, botj in it's rankings and the composite ranking which is an average of all the recriiting sites.

The info really doesnt differ much using 247 composite...

Rivals basketball is better than their football IMO...

I just pointed out the difference and your link backs that up. There is a big difference between 2 unrated commits, and 1 3 star and and unrated commit. Plus aren't done yet with this class.

In the case of Kentrell Barkley, he is just not evaluated by rivals. But based on his offer list...it isnt that impressive at all. I would say that the 3 star ranking is generous by 247...Hope the kid proves me wrong...

As mentioned in other posts, the entire conference is working to improve their programs. The top half is doing what they can to stay on top and the bottom half are moving in the right direction.

We are unfortunately in year 2 of a 3-5 year process. As recruiting, coaching staffs, facilities and OOC scheduling improves, we'll start gaining respect and more NCAA invitations.

Tulsa only has one scholarship open right now. We're already oversigned with no seniors. I don't expect any additions unless it's an experienced 5 (juco or graduated player).

2016 is going to be the biggie.

He is a 3 star on tge composite rating, which averages 24/7, plus the other sites togather. So, it isn't just 24/7 that is rating him a 3 star. But, questioning a ratinh based off an offer list is laughable. Guess BJ Tyson already proved your thinkong wrong.
