No it was negotiated to an 8 year deal, same money, just spread over more years. I think he wanted it that way for tax purposes.

Except Dave Braine was the simpleton who gave that abomination of a contract extension to Hewitt. Of course we shouldn't be surprised at Braine's actions. He did go to UNC after all.
