I just wonder how all of those ACC blue bloods feel now that their most coveted trophy and title, ACC Basketball Champions, is going to a school that is only partially committed to their conference and a guaranteed bid to the NCAA tournament goes with it. The observation is not meant to take away from Notre Dame's accomplishment, Kudos to the Irish! They deserved the win. It just must feel awkward to the Carolina contingent that's all.

You left out the Yankee and Catholic parts of that equation, JR. :)

Just to be clear, I was talking about the effect of ND's ACC championship win on the blue bloods of Tobacco Road, not JR or anyone on this board.

Thanks. And what I was speaking of will be the kind of positive pressure that wins like this will have on those blue bloods having to invest more in their major sports because of the seriousness that their new members, Notre Dame and Louisville among them, have placed upon them. When the old core of the ACC steps up its game with regards to athletics it will only enhance the value of the conference as a whole. It will also remove any feelings of reticence that still may be harbored by those schools who have been carrying the load in that regard.

appearantly NCAA guy told CBS that Kentucky is the #1 seed regardless of what happens today. I don't think I've ever seen them do that before. Not disagreeing- but it's just amazing.

CBS makes watching college basketball excruciating. There's supposedly a game going on in the middle of all these commercials.

You know it's bad when they block 150 minutes for something that could be done in about 90.

Gotta love it when The Big Ten keeps the rest of the country waiting. Well done Wisconsin and Michigan State, well done.

RE: Conference tourney thread
the fact that it's a 10 point game makes the committee's job easier I would think....

My hunch #1 seeds are Kentucky, Nova, Wisconsin, and Duke- though Virginia or Arizona wouldn't shock me at all..

I don't think it's very amazing. They are the only unbeaten and there are no major one-loss teams so there was no way a loss would knock them out of the overall #1 spot.

Not that being overall #1 means anything. 07-coffee3

It's amazing because they've never done it before.

Bubble prediction:

Temple, Indiana, and Ole Miss get in.

LSU and UCLA are out.

Well you are right with Indiana. In fact, not just a bubble but I think Indiana could match up well against Wichita State. All the talk about WSU getting a shot at Kansas finally may be making a big assumption. If Wichita State looks past Indiana then they aren't going to see the bus that runs them over.

Michigan State had to tank the overtime so that Wisconsin could get a #1 seed, to pay back Wisconsin for tanking the Big Ten football title game. But someone really needs to tell the Big Ten office that the tanking team should score at least once, to make it look good.... 05-stirthepot

Oh my god Wedge, I couldn't even fake being outraged about this. This was a great post. 04-cheers

It's so damn funny that it played out that way when most folks just assumed Maryland would beat Michigan State. I wonder who paid off Maryland to not overstep their brand new position within The Big Ten?

What else is funny? Kentucky's first game is in Louisville. Louisville's first game? It's in Seattle. That burns.

Oklahoma's first round game being played in Columbus, Ohio? Get used to that trip guys.
