Beat only 3 Top 50 teams? Let's be honest, there are schools in the field who don't have a top 50 win and probably some autobid schools who didn't even play a top 50 team. They were 8-8 against teams RPI'd in the top 100, better than others who got in ahead of them. Plus, Temple crushed a 2nd seeded KANSAS by 25 for a signature win that was as good as any on the bubble.
UCLA only had 2 top 50 wins.

Like I said, Temple certainly has an argument.
That being said, unfortunately its all about perception and the new name that is the "American". Had that conference still been named "The Big East" there is no doubt in my mind Temple would have been in because of the perception of the league. And I think you can agree with that. Heck they got 6 in the dance playing primarily on fox sports. I dont agree with it, but that's just how it is. Until the American garners the respect similar to the Big East/A-10 its going to be that way.
I think things will change after next year. The AAC has no one on the selection committee. After next year, CUSA and MVC reps step down and the AAC gets a slot. It easy to screw someone when you don't have to look them in the face.

RE: OT: AAC
I don't hold any grudges against the schools that left this conference. It made sense when it was still called the Big East and had the autobid and the C-7 were still part of it. Even after the C-7 split and took the Big East name with them, it still made sense. I wish them nothing but the best except when they play C-USA teams.
With that said, it must be hard for UConn fans and to some extent Cincinnati fans to realize they no longer get the benefit of the doubt of playing in an elite basketball conference. Just look at their champ SMU getting a 6th seed. 3 Big East schools got the same seed while their champ Villanova got the #1 seed. Temple getting the shaft over less deserving teams like UCLA and Texas. Both UCLA and Texas get the benefit in playing in a power conference and "prove" themselves to the committee. UConn and Cincinnati (along with multiple Big East teams) got the same benefit of the doubt back when the Big East was considered the best basketball conference in the country.
The AAC is a solid basketball conference. They have a good core at the top with UConn, Cincinnati, Memphis, Tulsa and Temple along with SMU (as long as Larry Brown is there). The problem is the bottom teams which is basically half of the conference. The schools that left joined a high major conference not an elite conference like the old Big East. At best the AAC is C-USA 1.0, a solid conference with really bad teams at the bottom (Cincy just went back there after a 10 year absence). The sooner they realize that the better. Still, if I was a UConn fan I would be upset about being left behind with a bunch of schools it has nothing in common.

RE: OT: AAC
The G5 gets what they deserve and I don't mean what they deserve with their team records but what they deserve by being silent about it. There are teams in the G5 that deserve being in the Dance more than some of the Cabal schools but yet weren't chosen. Whose fault is it? I say the presidents and ADs in all the Great Five conferences. They are so ignorant and just wallow in their stupidity. So what's the outcome? Nothing. Nothing changes and it will continue until someone wises up and sues these jackasses that are insulting the G5 with their picks.
