i thought there was a decent chance we'd get iowa state...but i thought it would be as a 15 vs. 2 matchup

i am happy with the draw
we were a very high seed (14) low because we had a very bad rpi
on paper we are not very impressive
the big 10 always have a good team going home early :)

They are big XII, and they are something fierce. To me this was about as bad as it could get for us.

UAB (300,000–1)

Too bad the Blazers won't get to face any Conference USA teams in the tournament. All seven of their RPI Top 200 wins came in-conference, meaning they went 0-8 against RPI Top 200 opponents during the nonconference portion of the season.

Iowa State (50 - 1)

Pretty much the polar opposite of Baylor, Iowa State is a fantastic finesse team. The Cyclones like to run and gun, hitting a high percentage of their shots while preferring to avoid physical affairs. Whether they're actually hitting those shots in the tournament will dictate how deep they can go, and they have occasionally had some trouble finding that stroke away from home.

This appears to be their version of the Blaze statue. Apparently they worship their mascot as intensely as the bammers do their Bear Bryant bronze statue. We need find a way to get this thing dressed in Blazer gear, somehow:

That upset at least one of them. Apparently saying we need to dress this thing in blazer gear is equivalent to needing to steal it.

I understand that after every big game they gather around the statue there in Des Moines and sing their alma mater to it, "I Owe Io-way" (which I wrongly identified as their fight song up above).

I did run across another Iowa State statue. This apparently commemorates their School of Agricultural Sciences developing new breeds of corn to cure this man's son of his outlandishly oversized head and compulsion to masturbate in public, and also to grant womanly curves to his wife (at least I believe the standing figure is meant to be female). They appear to value the Healing Power of Corn second only to that of Floyd of Rosedale:

A minor correction:

The pig statue is called Floyd of Rosedale and is awarded to the winner of the University of Iowa-University of Minnesota football game.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Iowa State University, although I'm sure it would bug their fans no end to confuse them with the hated University of Iowa and the hated B1G.
