Does anyone honestly give a crap about the NIT (Not In THE Tournament)?

If Old Dominion is playing in it, I care about it. Now, if you're asking if anyone outside of that, probably not. But a lot of people will look at the final four of the NIT favorably for teams that could make a run in the next years NCAA tourney.

That point stands especially for ODU. A deep run in the NIT could be the force multiplier that we need to make next season a special one. NIT Morale boost + Freeman at his peak + Pervier might be just enough.

Yes. I would be fine with UAB playing in the NIT. But it was pretty much win the CUSA Tourney or bust for us.

The NIT can be a lot of fun if you make a run. One of my most special memories is going to the NIT final four in NYC with a group of Monarch fans. Sure, the only people that really care are the fans of teams in it, but thats OK. I had more fun with the NIT F4 than 1 and dones in the NCAA. Its definitely a big step up from the CBI/CIT.

Our lady Miners made the Final and it was a madhouse here in EP. People pushing in line to get a seat. The NIT has grown to be an impressive tourney.

We won 5 games two seasons ago. While the NIT is not our ultimate goal, we'll enjoy it if that's where we find ourselves.

Hell, we have had good crowds for CBI and CIT games.

While not getting into the Tournament sucks, I think we had a lot more fun and got more coverage than Tulsa did last year with our NIT run. The NIT can be very good compared to a quick loss against a #1 or #2 seed.

Keeping my fingers crossed, as a lot of sites still show UTEP in the NIT field. When we lost to Middle Tenn, I thought we had absolutely no chance of getting an NIT bid, however many of the conference champs came through and won their tournaments so that changes everything.

As for the question being asked if anyone cares about the NIT, it allows for more experience and exposure. It isn't the NCAA Tournament but it isn't the CIT or CBI. I wouldn't mind a trip to the NYC if one's team makes it that far.

I thought we needed to get to the finals to be a lock. And, I was with you Art. Pretty much thought we were done. But at least we're still in the conversation at this point. Of course, the NIT tends to be a lot more of a crapshoot than the NCAA, so you never know what they'll do.

We will probably have Montana to blame if we don't make it after they choked the Big Sky away. Well, we should blame ourselves first because we probably shouldn't even be on the NIT bubble. Then we can blame them.

Selection show is at 7:30 Central on ESPNU.

The Big Dance has 68 teams so the winner of the NIT can say they are the 69th best D-1 team. 04-chairshot
