Well of ESPN is the carrier doubt it will be the Big East
Well that could make the A-10 problematic. Sure it could be worked out if needed.
"The agreements mean that nearly 150 games will be televised. There will be 30 potential appearances on the ESPN family of networks, 54 on CBS Sports Network and 50 on NBC Sports Network."
A-10 contract
Wouldn't that make the A10 easier?

A challenge would really help us at the bottom in RPI. I don't see the Big East but i could see A10 as a good option. Both are ESPN properties so it makes some sense.
My preference is for a conference that share similar profiles to the AAC programs (also plays football). But I'll leave it up to Aresco to decide. I don't have a burning desire to play the NBE or the A10.

SEC already does it with the Big XII.

The Mountain West is probably the best match in terms of high quality basketball at the top with a soft bottom tier. Both conferences have a TV contract with CBS so it could work. Both leagues have 11 team so everyone could play a game in the challenge. The Big East would be a good fit if the you could get Fox and ESPN to agree. While the Big East is top to bottom a better league the top five or six games could be really exciting.

Davidson @ SMU
Dayton vs Tulsa
Rhode Island @ Cincy
VCU vs Temple
Richmond @ Memphis
GW vs Uconn
St. Bonaventure @ Tulane
Massachusetts vs ECU
La Salle @UCF
Saint Joseph's vs Houston
Duquesne @USF
Based off last years final rankings. Conference tournament seeding used for rankings.
Some good potential match-ups, others not so much at top of conference. This would benefit the bottom of AAC, and the top of A-10 would enjoy some high profile match-ups with AAC

The perceived bottom of this conference will be fine.
Temple was in the bottom last year. Now where are they?
Look at what ECU did vs SMU. You can't tell me that ECU cant hang with DePaul. That's silly.
Tulane beat UC. They'd more than hold their own against Creighton (who Tulsa beat).
Houston just hired Sampson and won a tourney game.
Let these programs bring in their AAC recruiting classes, and schedule accordingly. That said, they're competitive NOW.

My guess is the MWC. Fox vs ESPN makes the Big East matchup very unlikely plus they are doing games with the Big 10 already.
The AAC and MWC really need partnerships in this age of sports with the p5 trying to shut us out. Maybe the p5 would be satisfied enough if everything below the AAC and MWC gets cut off?

Easier than Big East, yes. Easier than a conference thats has most/all games on espn, nope.
Might not be a problem at all.

I just don't see one of those leagues as available except maybe P12 or MWC.

Shut the **** up, *******. You don't just turn a switch and have greatness light up the room from top to bottom. We knew when we 'graduated' the new programs that it would be a process of getting the right coaches in place, and bringing in a higher caliber recruit. They're doing that.
What ******* fantasy world are you living in?

again you want a conference challenge on your level...
The A10 is proly about right at this point for the AAC.
In hoops you have the P5 + the Big East.
Next level down is the AAC, A10, and MWC most years.

When you're talking to trash, sometimes you have to adjust the volume accordingly.
I have no problem going there if you're going to spew your ****.

How many bids will the Pac 12 have genius? **** off.
Next year, the AAC is reloading through recruiting. We have no problem competing with anyone in the country.

I agree. A-10 best match for conference top to bottom.
AAC could handle a Big East Matchup. Hell even if AAC does not win it does not really hinder the conference. I believe BIG lost like the first 13 or so challenges with ACC and it didn't diminish(to a large extent) the BIG.

haha guess I hit a nerve.
Sorry if I dont see the AAC as a high major, elite conference. I cant think of any official metric that would show it is. And saying we are because Aresco or little Timmy thinks we are is friggen hilarious to me.

RE: Aresco in Hartford Courant: challenge series with another league maybe coming
As far as I know, there's a Big 10/ACC challenge and a Big 12/SEC challenge.
That leaves the Pac 12 and Big East as the best available challenge conferences for us, with the A10, MWC, MVC and WCC as other multi-bid leagues.
But for TV issues, the Big East would make the most sense. Temple/Villanova (Philly rivals). UConn/Georgetown (Old Big East rivals). Cincy/Xavier (Cincy rivals). Memphis/Marquette (Old CUSA rivals). Tulsa/Creighton (Old MVC rivals). Houston/DePaul (Old CUSA rivals). SMU/Butler. USF/Providence (Old Big East rivals). UCF/Seton Hall. Tulane/St. Johns (Catholics/Jesuits).
A10 is less desirable, but OK: Dayton/Cincy, UMass/UConn, LaSalle/Temple, St Louis/Memphis, VCU/SMU, Tulsa/Davidson, ECU/George Mason, Tulane/St Bonaventure, Houston/GW, USF/Richmond, UCF/Rhode Island.

We would win a couple games this year in a big East challenge. Overall it would be a blood bath though.

I think the MWC would be pretty entertaining. Some of us have history with those programs from WAC 16 days too.

BigEast makes no sense for TV issues. They're a Fox exclusive property.
