Going beyond 12 schools doesn't work with the CFP formula and they already have the best football conference in the G5. They have nothing to gain by taking two more members.

Now CUSA pushing on to 14 or 16 makes a lot of sense to put even more distance on the SBC and get more competitive for the G5 access slot. They way you get more competitive for the access bowl is not by adding Georgia State, its by adding Georgia Southern. You need to add a good football school to that Eastern Division. Markets are not too important when either Georgia St or Georgia Southern gets you into Georgia.

If CUSA wants to improve its basketball profile the only way to do that is New Mexico State. They have a better shot of getting into CUSA than many people would think due to that hoops tradition.

I agree NMSU has a much better chance than many people think. The West Division needs a team. CUSA has some pretty decent Fb teams already and some with great potential, but the basketball side needs to be worked on and NMSU helps with that. CUSA can't be a 13 or 14 team conference and only get 1 bid each year.
