What did Calkins say in his column today?
Behind the paywall. Did he roast, console, bash?

IMO he wasn't harsh enough. If the media will ramp up the pressure, it can only help in encouraging a coaching change or Pastner taking a job somewhere else.

The gist of GC's today was that this wasn't about a bad bounce here or there, it was about a lousy basketball team. Something like "average teams sometimes win and sometimes lose against other average teams and lose every time they play anyone good"

we went 1-12 this year vs top 50 = pitiful

I think he was trolling some of our good fans here who are always blaming the officials.

RE: What did Calkins say in his column today?
1-12 vs. the Top 50 this season is all about lousy coaching.

0-2 .000 in AAC tournaments...........

6-21 against ranked teams.........

So what if he piled up a bunch of wins destroying a bunch of outmanned CUSA teams riding X's coat tails? Our program is so far ahead of any other program that was in CUSA that there were MANY coaches, given the same overwhelming advantages that he had, that would have destroyed CUSA........

RE: What did Calkins say in his column today?
ppl...there will be no changes...we should just save ourselves the emotional baggage and root for a blue blood with great coaching that knows what March is all about...

The Memphis team is weak
The Memphis Coaching is weak
The Memphis future is weak without a elite pg

Memphis will do what it has always does have one run in 10 years...Save Calipari last four years...AVERAGE now and AVERAGE FUTURE. with above average salary to Head Coach.

Josh is only gone if he wants to go.

Get over it. I don't really like it, but I can kinda understand it.

We don't have to get over it. We may have to deal with it but we don't have to like it........ there's a difference.

Right, why is this so hard to understand for some folks? Talk about an exercise in futility.

Change is not affected by those who roll over and accept the circumstances in which they currently find themselves.

Ha, exactly. Me thinks there's not a lot of ambassador level donors posting on here.

It's fun to discuss the "what ifs" on here, but reality is...this place is just for fun. Not change lol

They played really hard yesterday at times too. And didn't look that poorly coached either (in fact the last couple of weeks, they looked like they have been coached ok actually).

If the effort is there.
And the coaching is adequate (not great, but adequate).
... then maybe the talent isn't there?

Some of our players don't look like they are the quality of what Memphis teams have had in the past.

During the run without Nichols, they passed well, got good looks and played ok D. And while there were still some boneheaded plays, the blatant coaching miscues were lessened if not eliminated. They seemed to play better wihtout Nichols in fact (even if the results were lacking).

I actually was bummed we lost yesterday, but I can't complain about the effort or the coaching (or the refs). It was just an ok team losing to another ok team.

We should be ok at starting PG/SF/PF/C next year with real depth up front, with little backing up Kedren (Pookie did not improve, put it on Pastner if you must) and no real strong option at the 2 (Burrell or KJ as a big 2? Woodson improves enough to be a real answer?).

We'll have a very strong frontcourt next year, but still concerned about backup PG and all SG depth.

We'll see I suppose. The sun will come out, tomorrow, tomorrow 03-wink

Maybe not, but there is a good number of TSF donors that could choose not to make their donations.
