That would be my bet.

Ray Ray is a piece of crap. I do not understand how he can look at himself in a mirror. He and other administrators are not interested at all in reinstating football.

And this effort should have been proofed against that obvious counter-strategy well beforehand - that took no magic foresight to figure out, either.

A lot of us have worked extremely hard to keep this fight going. I am very disappointed in Justin.

Where's the press on this? Obvious blocking by Ray L(iar) Watts and the admin on first the outside firm and now the football foundation's attempts to raise money for football reinstatement.

Where is the press? I hope it's being sniffed out and run down to the facts so Watts and his toadies are drug back out into the light with irrefutable evidence.

Perhaps this was foreseen? Perhaps it was a maneuver meant to goad the ego of Ray L(iar) Watts into acting like the Napoleanic bully he is.

I really appreciate these guys' tireless work, but it's not hard to foresee these kinds of complications when you are planning these proposals. It seems like everyone associated with these kinds of things acts before they consider all of the consequences.

Anyone else noticing how this crap transpires only when things are going good for UAB? Football had the best turnaround in the nation and was promptly shut down. Now football makes strides in returning and the basketball team advances to the CUSA championship and now we have this plus Watts rejecting OSKR's contract?

The point remains that the University (through the leadership of this administration) is blatantly fighting against the efforts to restore football after publicly stating that they were looking forward to the findings the ATF and Football Foundation would find. Now, they come across as just looking petty because they can't swallow their pride and admit that they were wrong and didn't do the work that should have been done to support athletics from the beginning. I've never been more disappointed in UAB. They have a group of people who love the university, are passionate about the cause and yet UAB is making them out to look like the bad guys.

The people who have been leading this charge have other full time interests, yet they still seem to be able to effectively garner support. If nothing else, their efforts have shown that a fully funded, fully supported athletics department could and would take UAB to the next level.

The actual CONTROLLERS of UAB - System BOT and Dr Watts - are acting CONSISTENTLY to minimize growth in ALL programs at UAB so that their positions are not threatened (in their eyes) by any "uppity leaders" who don't see the university system as their wholly owned fiefdom they wish to protect. Our leaders see a "rising tide that raises all boats", but the UA leaders want only their boats to rise.

What we may be seeing is a cannabalism based on their fear that state funding is going to remain so low that the only way to survive is to feed off the weaker institution - a sort of "Donner party" mentality.

Given their press release combined with the timing on the Foundation suspending the ticket drive, I bet that is exactly what happened.

That's ok, there were well over 4,000 commitments of cash money in less than 48 hours. They'll get things cleaned up and resume sometime soon.

Agreed. Speedbump in the road, but I imagine that Watts will end up on the losing end of this, in more ways than one.
