from 9 wins a year ago to a program record 27 wins and a ticket to the Big Dance, congrats to the Lady Bobcats, MAC regular season and tournament champs.

CMU is showing you don't necessarily need a big man to be successful in this conference.
Edit: Oops should have read the first post haha

UB should get 13, CMU maybe a 13 or 14. Depending on what they do with the 12s--at-larges sent to Dayton--if they have a 12 for another team, UB would have a shot. The other teams who went to Cleveland would have gotten 14-15 seeds, maybe even 16 for the 100+ teams, and it would have been very ugly in the tourney.
no MAC team that made it to Cleveland this year would be a 15 or 16 seed.
Akron and EMU would have.
EMU is 21-13(8-10) with an RPI of 127
Akron is 21-14(9-9) with an RPI of 111
Ohio('10)- 21-14(7-9) with a RPI of 95 (after beating Gtown)
If either team would have won the MAC auto bid this year they would have 2-3 more wins and an even better RPI. By comparison, Ohio was a 14 seed in 2010 with similar numbers and the MAC was weaker at 16 in RPI. This year there are already 6 teams that have earned an auto-bid with worse RPIs and there will be several more to come. For example, earlier today #272 Hampton 16-17(8-8) won the MEAC, ranked #32 out of 32 conferences. Hampton will be a 16 seed. The conference champion of the #10 conference, even if it was Akron EMU, would not hold one of the lowest 8 spots.

RE: Tournament Finals are Set
Neither Akron nor EMU would have been a 16 seed in any event. Looking at the ESPN Bracketology and the Massey rankings of schools in the 15 line, EMU would be about in that range and Akron looks a bit above the top ... and with a run to win the tournament, either of their current rankings would be higher.
So its plausible that EMU might have been a 15, but equally plausible that they would be a 14, and I reckon if you add a run to the final and a win there, Akron would have been around a 14.
In any event, Bracketology reckons CMU a 13 seed, so bracketed against a 4 seed (eg, in the present ESPN guesstimate, Baylor, Northern Iowa, Louisville). With the loser likely to the NIT as a consolation prize, either on an auto-bid or an at-large.

Most bracket predictions have the Bulls as a 12 seed.

Wow! That'd actually be a step above of what we've gotten the past couple years.

The NCAA shuffles seeds around to get regional match-ups where possible.

Edit: I've just seen a couple of brackets that have 11's go to Dayton instead of 12. That would give UB a better chance at a 12. Big difference in 12 and 13.
The play in games (or the first round as the NCAA wants it called, what a joke) has the 4 lowest 16 seeds Conference Champs, as well as the 4 lowest seeded at large teams, they could be 4 11s, 4 12s, or 2 11s & 2 12s, just depends on how the seeding plays out and how conference champs are seeded as compared to at larges. There could definitely be some tweaking of the seeds.
