Coach K summed it up with "this should have been our first game tonight but we didn't take care of business at home during the season"

Unbelievable.

Very good team with a number of seniors and this (ending)?

Exactly--3 senior starters. What's to be gained from "extra practice" and another game when much of next year's contributors won't even be there? Trust me...at least 2 incoming freshmen are starting for Toledo next season, maybe even 3 if we get the right guy yet. This season is over. Time to move on. We'll see where Rocket basketball is in 2 more seasons.

UB made the same decision last year. With McCrea, Freelove, and Oldham graduating it was not worth the programs money to play a game.

And maybe that experience they missed out on last year would come in handy......say tonight?

RE: No post season for Toledo basketball
This team mailed it in this year. When it came down to the biggest games of the year at the end of the season, they looked like they didn't even care. Lost 3 of their last 4 regular season games, when all they had to do was win 1 or 2 of those games to be MAC Champs and a 1 or 2 seed. Instead, they threw in the towel. Then, in the biggest game of the year, the MAC Semis, they STILL didn't give a damn. If they didn't care during MAC play when a MAC Championship/1 or 2 seed was on the line, why would they care in some "pay-to-play" tournament?

If this team wanted to play more games, they should have played better to EARN more games.

Refusal to play in one of these tournaments may permeate more of a negative feeling that is going on now with this UT program. Subsequently, biting them in the azzz down the road.

If you were a senior baketball player you would love to play another day of college hoops before it all goes away. Trust me on that one!!!

But it costs money to play in the pay-to-host tournaments, and if the team didn't convince people around the University that they really wanted to play the games they were already scheduled for, the money to cater to that wish might not be on the table.

If the seniors really wanted to play more games, they should have shown it on the floor. Losing 4 of your last 6 does not show that. Especially with the effort, or lack of, they showed during those games.

From experience:

What it will do is give anyone already complaining about UT a chance to gripe even more. Level headed fans can agree or disagree with the decisions without crapping on the program.

The Coach summed it up perfectly "This is the most disappointing season of his 13 seasons as head coach."

The players and coach both probably wanted to throw in the towel and end the season.

He obviously does not like the heart of his team. This happens sometimes with very physically talented teams.

Yeah, could be.

And, after all, if there's too much of a feeling of entitlement on the current team, there's also the lesson to the continuing students, "never take a game for granted, it might be your last game".
