No post season for Toledo per Coach K
During the post game conference Coach K and Mike OBrien stated there was no post season for Toledo, very sad ending to a very sad season considering the talent and experience.

Coach K summed it up with "this should have been our first game tonight but we didn't take care of business at home during the season"

Very true, and quite gut wrenching

35 years and counting with no prospects in the next two seasons having a real chance at doing anything special

I was going to address this tomorrow but since it's out there already...there was no chance at an NIT bid, and it would have been a waste of good money to pay to host a CIT or CBI game against other also-rans. The only way one of those post-season options would have made any sense is if we had more talent returning next season, so that the extra practice and game time would be meaningful...but when you have 3 senior starters who play lots of minutes, TK would have to intentionally put them on the bench for half a game to give more meaningful minutes to guys like Garber, Lauf, Mosely & Hall--and TK wouldn't have been able to do that. So, we'd be left with the big question of whether or not our seniors even cared about playing any more ball at this point, or if they would come out flat like we did last season in the NIT. I don't see this lack of post-season play as "punishment" but rather a sad acceptance that this team doesn't have it. And I think it's the right call. More tomorrow.

K came to Toledo to clean up the mess that was left him by his predecessor. Mission accomplished, and appreciated by all. But in that same token, I believe eventually winning the MAC/tournament was part of the job requirements. Looks like a wait and see approach, to see what next years team brings. Hopefully an all out focus on defensive discipline, and getting away from some of that one on one prima donna garbage... 03-banghead

More embarassment. Especially with the expectations coming into this season. 20 years ago it didn't bother me as much. 10 yrs ago it started to bug me. 5 yrs ago I'm like wtf? But in 35 f$#king years, a school in the mac the size of toledo with our academic programs, fans, facilities, etc., can't find five kids who can put a ball in a hoop and win this f!%king tourney. Tonight we played like five guys who just met at the ymca for the first time. CMU played great team D and O, hustled and had active hands in every passing lane. They made the easy shots and never looked flustered. Juice couldn't throw it in the ocean and as usual the bench offered nothing. Like last season in football I wasn't too upset we didn't get a bowl, because I didn't want more embarassment. Same this season in bball. I am ready for it to be over, no rewards for what looked like a team that gave up. Too much Jeckle and Hyde this season. It got old by xmas.

Disagree somewhat with statement above while I don't think next year we have shot but I think in 2 years we do. This incoming Freshman class 3 guys look like they can help right away. I don't see why they can't get there in 2 years.

Talent wasn't what held the program from that extra step to the MACC?

Absolutely mind blowing.

Wouldn't have mattered if it was our first game tonight. That half (no) hearted effort wouldn't have beaten ball state.
