No one can say with a straight face that the Tic Price years were better, you just can't do that. Bad part is if there is this big wave of non renewals, it will happen way too late to shoot the Pastner.

Tic wasn’t here long before the scandal that sunk him overshadowed everything.

In our current era year 4-5-6 were wasted and all were underachieved. The hope that things would get better the next year never happened and each season ended with a flameout.

Fact is the product presented on the court does not equal the resources provided to maintain a high level of competition. And don’t even mention the off court issues and drama. Thing is some fans are OK with this.

It wasn’t much fun under Tic and for me the past few years haven’t been much fun either.

Not many donations during the later Finch and Tic years. How much was Tic's salary? 150K?

Regardless, I think tic was a better basketball coach than pastner.

From 1997 to 2003, that's 6 years straight, the basketball program on the court was truly irrelevant in the basketball world outside of that NIT run. No NCAA tournament appearances and mediocre basketball and yet program rebounded and didnt go into the abyss. We are going to rebound whether that's next year with the same coach or two years from now with a new coach. I know it's easy to spew the rhetoric, especially from the same posters regurgitating the same old stuff over and over again but we've had darker days and that's a fact

We had no money back then either. Cal came and the donations sky rocketed. It looks to be headed that way again. Right now people don't see it getting better. Just like in 1997 when Finch was let go.

The tic price years results weren't better but the level of excitement was higher. People around town are fed up to a level they weren't under tic because he was only here 2.5 years. Now there are the Grizzlies and you can get nba league pass and NFL redbone and Internet tv and Netflix. There are a lot more options for sports entertainment and things to do around town. People are tired of pastner and the underachieving results

Thousands won't renew. Thousands. It is going to be really ugly. The AD will figure out why he shouldn't have given pastner that vote of confidence really soon. I'm not sure Bowen really understands the sports psychology of the city.

Bandwagon fans, don't seem to be very knowledgeable, complain about everything, ready to bail after our first game this year, and don't give their seats to others that would love to see Tiger basketball.

Not really "basketball mad" like some claim. Only support a winner.

No it was not! The first thing people notice and started to grumble about was Tic Rice style of play which wasn't the uptempo run-n-gun play that fans were use to. That grind it out style didn't make fans excited about the future

Yep the Tic Price years were better than this. The administration and boosters made a huge mistake by including a mind-numbing buyout in the extension package. I guess they really thought Josh was the next John Wooden. Their bad.

As I said at the start of the season if Josh is retained I’m done, and I won’t return.

Quote:Yep the Tic Price years were better than this.

When you make statements like this, why do you wonder why you get laughed at when you try to analyze the actual games?

"Tarik Black will become a superstar when he has Bill Self as a coach and has guards that can get the ball to him."

Funny and funnier.

Not enough rich alumni. See my other post. Mike Rose is a Cincy grad. Alan Graf is an Indiana grad.

That's what people like you don't get. With our alumni base we NEED those bandwagon fans to make a profit

The city has a TINY core of true die hard fans for both football and basketball. Based on 2005, Tic Price's last season, and Larry's last season, that is very obvious. It is also obvious and shocking that we have many more die hard football fans than we do basketball fans.

Quote: That's what people like you don't get. With our alumni base we NEED those bandwagon fans to make a profit

You either have reading comprehension problems or you are disagreeing for the sake of disagreement. You AGREE with me. The program needs bandwagon fans because there are almost no die hard fans.

IF there were die hard fans, the building would be full no matter what. There would be fans always wanting to keep their seats and fans behind them to snap them up if they didn't. How many fans will support the program through thick and thin? Around 6,000 per game worth.
