Out of Town Scoreboard - March 13-15
#3 Virginia fell on the road to unranked Virginia Tech after issuing a walk-off walk.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Hokies started with a walk. They then bunted, but an E6 by the Cavs left them at first and second with no outs. The next batter sacrifices to advance the runners. UVA intentionally walks the next runner to load the bags with one out. Cavaliers bring in a new pitcher to face the cleanup hitter who he promptly walks on four pitches to end the game.

And that's precisely why I hate, hate, hate the IBB to load the bases in college ball. IMO, regardless of the batter, the risk far outweighs the potential benefit.

Oregon and Virginia, who are both ahead of us in all polls, both have lost their series already.
Texas has gone to extras in both nights agains WVU, splitting so far.

And UT walked in the winning run in the T10.

FAU and UTSA sweep Charlotte and Marshall, respectively, to start 3-0.
Marshall is probably the backmarker for the season, and we miss them on the schedule.

From an RPI point of view, is that a bad thing? Also traveling to Arizona, Charlotte, Florida (one or the other F*U), and West Virginia would be rough

You want to play the worst teams on your schedule on the road, I think.

Arizona loses game 3 vs Utah, allowing 9 runs in the final two innings. Utah takes the series, 2-1.

Damn, we agree on an element of baseball strategy. Although my personal distaste for the IBB may extend to more situations than yours does. Use it to get rid of a good hitter that you don't want to face. That's it.

More importantly, UVA was swept by Virginia Tech! And, UVA has now lost 4 in a row, including a midweek game on the 11th to ODU, our next conference series...

HUGE blow for Stanford-- their Friday ace and preseason all-American, Cal Quantrill, is having Tommy John Surgery. I guess The OG got too close to him when he beat us a couple weeks back.

Did he even pitch when they hosted Texas in a four game series? I thought he pitched well against Rice. Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
No, he did not pitch against UT last week. Real tough luck for him as his rehab will likely continue well into the 2016 season, his Junior (and draft-eligible) year. (For comparison sake, both Jordan Stephens and Josh Pettitte passed their 1-year TJS anniversary last week.)
