RE: FOOTBALL FRIDAY: Tell Me Something Good About Tulsa
Out of the football programs in this conference, Tulsa is one of the better ones in recent years (although one of the worst in very recent years).

Prefer to rewrite the history books. Busters over tradition powers

If I cared about history... I'd be a UF, FSU, or Miami fan. So screw the history books. UCF is on the rise. #AmericanRising

More concerned with the programs future than the programs past

This is college athletics... traditions is dying by the season... conference reshuffles, breaking up traditional rivals...

What have you done for me lately.

Pretty funny and I'm sure that word (TULSA) has never been rearranged before. But if a school has the letters UC and F in the name, rearranging that might also present problems in mixed company. 05-nono

Spoken like a true newcomer.

There is nothing inherently wrong for wishing to rewrite the proverbial history books, but at least consider the value of learning about the past. (Ironic that you are against the past considering your mascot, which I love). All I am asking is for the concession stoppage of smart-aleck photos. Besides, your photo is basically wrong. The 1940's are not ancient history for college football. Save the photo for the 1800's.

Several teams in the AAC (most notably SMU, Navy, Tulane, Tulsa, etc) have glorious histories that should be acknowledged and respected. College football history is a fascinating study. Thousands of heroes and legends await to be reread. Plus, I have noticed my reading of college football history has led to a greater understanding of the current setup. I understand the put-down position, UCF finds itself in regarding college football in Florida, especially since Florida, FSU, and Miami are relevantly new blue bloods.

I leave you with a hypothetical question: What happens if UCF ever becomes one of the relics? Will you go quietly into the night respecting the wheel of progress or you fight and post articles of glory days?

You have to think that it had to do with Tulsa being the Oil Capital of the world at the time combined with the fact World War II was going on. I prefer to remember the passing records they set in the 50's/60's

For most fans, the longer that you're around the game, the more that you appreciate its history.....and not just the history that you remember in your lifetime.

Long before I or even my parents were born, the Sewanee iron men went on the toughest road trip of all time; 5 games, 6 days, 12 players* and returned undefeated, untied, and unscored on. I just don't know how you can't appreciate that accomplishment, even if it's over 100 years old.

1899: Sewanee 12-0

Oct. 21 Sewanee 12 @Georgia 0
Oct. 23 Sewanee 32 @Georgia Tech 0
Oct. 28 Sewanee 46 Tennessee 0
Nov. 3 Sewanee 54 Southwestern 0
Nov. 9 Sewanee 12 @Texas 0
Nov. 10 Sewanee 10 @Texas A&M 0
Nov. 11 Sewanee 23 @Tulane 0
Nov. 13 Sewanee 34 @LSU 0
Nov. 14 Sewanee 12 @Ole Miss 0

Nov. 20 Sewanee 71 Cumberland 0
Nov. 30 Sewanee 11 @Auburn 10
Dec. 2 Sewanee 5 @North Carolina 0

*the # of players isn't as well documented as the games/scores.
