Bill Connelly always does a good job with these. Looks of fun statistics to look at.

He also posted an early 2015 preseason power ranking:

Queue the salty NIU fans in 3....2....1...

EMU fans have to love in the opener:

Quote:In 2014, there were basically three tiers of power in the MAC: the top three teams, everybody but EMU, and EMU.

... or: The Emoos.

Poor, poor, EMU. I legitimately feel sorry for their few fans.

Their 3 fans, empty pepsi bottles to 'fill' seats on paper, and their hired stand-ins. :)

I shouldn't say that though -- it may jinx things. Watch them win the west next year.

Ahhhh, who am I kidding.

I liked the "Year Zero" analysis near the beginning of the WMU preview. Just goes to show how unpredictable college football can be at times.

Yeah. Most programs have their ups and downs, but it seems EMU has been a dumpster fire for some time now. I'm not trying to talk crap about them, but it is what it is. I wish they were more competitive. I'd love to have all 3 Michigan MAC teams duke it out for the MAC West title every year.

I don't know about that. Kent St was pretty bad. In my final MAC Power Ranking last season I did have Eastern Mich over Kent St.

Ugh. UMass still isn't gone next year???

The only thing that is stupid about the power ranking is that the author states that WMU and Toledo are more experienced than last year but fails to mention that NIU should be as well, considering they were like the 5th youngest team in college football last year.

Anyways, it should be a fun and exhilarating year for the top 3 teams in the MAC West and it can go any way.

So, based on this analysis - we should be expecting MAC championship this Fall?

I think the analysis is overly generous to us. @Toledo & @NIU, who will only be better than last year (as will the conference as a whole) -- combined with playing MSU, Ohio State, and a top-tier mid-major all the way down in GA beforehand -- along with playing former MAC East champs (BGSU) -- we CANNOT expect a MAC Championship.

I see us being much the same way as this past year, except our overall record being a step lower, despite being a better team.
