RE: Post-Season?
Is the NIT a possibility? Just one NIT bracketology page, but KSU mentioned on the Outside looking in http://bracketmatrix.com/nit
RPI of 89 right below the lowest at-large NIT RPI of 2014.

RE: Post-Season?
The reason we haven't announced yet is because the MAC still thinks UB has an outside shot at the NCAA tourney if they don't win tomorrow. That might put a MAC co-champ in the NIT. But we have a fall-back plan should the NIT not materialize. IMO - the conference is smoking crack thinking UB can get an at-large bid to the NCAA tourney.

If UB wins tonight and loses respectably tomorrow I think they're a bubble team. Right now their RPI is 33rd and the MAC as a whole is 10th. That's pretty respectable. Last year the best RPI to miss the tourney was 34th. So that puts them right at the bubble. Also, Hurley brings a little bit of national recognition and they lead Kentucky at halftime which has been rare this year.

Ok, now that Akron officially lost. I want to be in the same tournament as them. I think our guys would get up for the games if they know winning a few might give them another shot at the zips.

Seriously I don't blame them. What's the point? If you aren't in the NCAA or NIT, it's a big waste of time and money.

Even the NIT isn't what it used to be with few teams getting to play in MSG. I doubt our seniors are excited to play in one of the lesser tournaments. It probably will cause us to look bad like when we lost SC Upstate.

It's not a waste of time. You don't think Jimmy Hall and our rising seniors could use the experience in a tourney format? VCU won the NIT the year before they went to the Final Four. If you have your team in the right frame of mind, it is a valuable experience for the kids.

RE: Post-Season?
I have mixed feelings about participating in the non-NCAA tournaments. I also remember the embarassing showing at USC Upstate.

The coaches have to have a serious conversation with the seniors to determine if they will put their full effort and spirit into the tournament. I do not believe the under classmen will be an issue. Otherwise, I agree, it would be a waste of time & money.

There is no shame is saying no, and taking a pass.

DM = yes, wants to finish-up by hitting more 3s
KB = not sure, especially if things don't start off well
DJ = not sure
CB = I think so
BV = yes, let me in coach

If enough schools turn down bids, we could automatically be awarded the championship by default.
I do agree that these tournaments offer good exposure, much like our 2000 NIT run. But these 1 & done games are a waste.

RE: Post-Season?
I really think getting tournament experience is overrated. Our 2000 NIT run was because we were good and no other reason. The same with our 2002 NCAA run. We didn't beat Oklahoma St., Alabama and Pittsburgh because we won two NIT games two years prior. In fact we lost to Indiana because they saw us in the previous years NCAA and they gained experience on how to beat us. Teams like Kent are better off being a well kept secret. The MAC tournament probably gives us enough tournament experience.

RE: Post-Season?
Bingo. And so much was made of the 2011 team's NIT run. Everyone was screaming how it was going to go such a long way in helping the 2012 team. Well armed with that experience we lost 2/3 to Akron in 2012 and then mailed it in at USC Upstate.

If we weren't in the right frame of mind to play Akron in the MAC Tournament, how in God's name are we going to be in the right frame of mind to play some no-name opponent in a no-name tournament?
