NCHC Awards Finalists
Wow! No Bronco is a finalist for any award in the NCHC! We are the only team totally blanked.....even Colorado had 1 nominee. No Hafner who was goalie of the week twice. No Morrison! Nobody! Does that tell us something about our position in this league! Kind of sucks!

RE: NCHC Awards Finalists
Keep in mind, we are playing in the most talented/deepest league in the country. There are some really talented individual players in this league, some of the nations best.
We really didn't have any "individual" stand out players this year (stats wise).
Tiffels was probably in the running for the rookie team, but didn't play as many games in order to put up similar numbers.
Hargrove didn't show up until after Christmas, or he could have been in consideration
Hafner had a couple of good games, but also had some bad ones and he was just too inconsistent
Dries was probably pretty close for the defensive forward award. Same with Laport
Morrison?? For what and why??
If you look closely at the individual stats for the players who were selected, I'd say they got it right. And in each of those finalists, there were some really outstanding individual numbers.
There were also some very, very good players who had some outstanding stats who were left off, ie.. Ortega-UNO, Williams-UNO, Bennik-SCSU, Guentzel-UNO, Smaltz-ND
My predictions:
COY-Blais
POY-Laleggia
ROY-Heinen
GOY-Messa
FOY-Moore
DOY-(This one is a hard to figure)
ODOY-Laleggia
DFOY-McMillan

RE: NCHC Awards Finalists
WMU actually had 1 finalist, Fleming for the Scholar Athlete Award
And the winners are:
2014-15 NCHC Individual Award Winners
Herb Brooks Coach of the Year – Dave Hakstol, North Dakota
Player of the Year – Joey LaLeggia, Denver
Rookie of the Year – Danton Heinen, Denver
Forward of the Year – Trevor Moore, Denver
Defenseman of the Year – Joey LaLeggia, Denver
Goaltender of the Year – Zane McIntyre, North Dakota
Offensive Defenseman of the Year – Joey LaLeggia, Denver
Defensive Forward of the Year – Mark MacMillan, North Dakota
Scholar-Athlete of the Year – Nick Mattson, North Dakota
Sportsmanship Award – Nick Oliver, St. Cloud State
I got 2 wrong. I wonder if first round playoff results also come into play?
From a coaching stand point, Blais did a great job with a very young team. He had allot of holes to fill. I'm not sure how Hakstol got it, other than ND won the league title.
Similar with McIntyre vs Messa. Messa put up some league leading numbers with a young team in front of him and he was the primary reason they won allot of games this year.
