Banowski: UAB made an "extraordinary" decision
a "really amazing extraordinary" decision. Sounds like he is still a little pissed about the decision.

Interviewed at halftime of our game.

Said they are giving UAB time to figure out where they stand. Nothing really else.

True. Also sounded like the "If they don't bring football back..." statement was on the tip of the tongue.

Well in kicking the can down the road, the BOT/Watt's is forcing their hand in dumping us. The BOT/Watts then can say again, not our fault UAB is f***ed

You get the impression that Football is key, but it does sound like they will wait for the process to work its way through. If we don't get football back in 2016, we're probably going to tailspin in public and student support anyways.

I'm telling y'all, they're gonna delay this thing the end of the semester and try to let it die during the Summer lull.

Yep. But every time they think it will "die" something else sparks our momentum. In tonight's case, it's the monumentally stupid decision to publicly tell the ATF they can't do their job.

Watts & Lucas will have to stare down the graduates on April 25.

Where did this info come from? Is it possible that someone on our side is trying to fire up the fanbase?

The conference really has no timetable for this as there is no precedent for a state university abolishing its keystone athletic program in modern times. The 2014-2015 school year ends on June 30 so that gives them time to assay the situation in Montgomery (by May legislative adjournment), the movement of efforts to restore football in B'ham and their own conference member's attitude toward replacing UAB if all falls through.

There are probably at least a half dozen schools who would jump at the chance to join C-USA if an opening occurs. They might even consider making the BJCC an annual MBB tournament site since it would then be an even more "neutral" location.

I'm watching the halftime show of the La Tech game and the Commissioner sounded like that they are going to allow us to regroup and see if we bring back football. We can do this yall but Watts need to get his golden parachute and leave for Florida not next week or tomorrow but today!

It would be a spectacularly stupid move; therefore it could well be true. We'll surely know the truth shortly; there's no point in task force members keeping quiet either way.

And this time the graduating seniors will know he's there, hiding behind a table and a tall plant, flanked by a security guard.

If true, then it is better for our side. Not only do you have Watts meddling, but the committee should have never chose a firm that had already shown a prejudice. Now they can choose one without prejudice who will come to the same conclusion about the Carr report. Had we chose the Swartz firm, Watts could have easily dismissed it as biased based on prior reporting. He can't do that with an unbiased firm.

This can be good for UAB football.

I disagree with your assertion MB. Swartz wrote a couple articles on the decision by UAB administrators to end football based on a report that was shown not to be thorough. Watts wanted them to choose the firm that had inside connection to Carr to reaffirm the Carr results. They should stick to their guns and maybe we can fund the study independent of UAB and publish the findings.

My assertions are rarely agreed with on this topic, so that doesn't surprise me. I appreciate the civil response and the lack of a call for my banning though.

I've gone back and forth on this. Schwartz did rip the Carr report a bit, but he did so independently and merely pointed out some flaws in it. If an independent report is done, it should have nothing to do with the Carr report to begin with. They shouldn't be sitting there looking at the Carr report and seeing where it was screwed up, they should be doing their own independent report. There is a bit of a conflict I suppose, but the other firm had a conflict as well. I don't think it is fair to dismiss the firm simply because he pointed out some flaws in the Carr report though.
