WCYB's Paul Johnson just tweeted that his source at ETSU confirms that Bartow is out.

Timing is right - as others have said, the tournament is the time for networking and making connections.

And ETSU now needs to act boldly to preserve Peter Jurkin and promising new guards, if possible.

THis needed to be done after the crash and burn last third of the season. Bartow looked lost and out of energy and passion as the team forgot how to do what had it playing well against some decent midmajors early in the season. But like many others, I was still surprised that leadership actually pulled the trigger.

Wish him and his family well.

Few things stand out. First, the local media are CLUELESS. The national guys broke this story. Second, I think that whatever we did to find and hire Ezell, we need to do it again.

Bartow had two years remaining on his contract. A buyout is expected to cost ETSU in the neighborhood of $400,000.

Alan Leforce? Probably resigned but close to a firing. Otherwise Barry Dowd would be right.

Fans we spoke with said with this news coming shrouded in mystery, they can't see anyone else doing a better job.

“I think we had a good coach, personally I think to change him right now would be a mistake, I don't know who they have in mind to replace him, but I think he'll be very hard to replace,” said ETSU fan Bill Hall.

Who'd they cherry pick for those quotes. This is ludicrous.

I've been emailing Avento about the fan rumblings against Bartow for months now. No response.

I emailed him in February about a story idea about something positive, and it was on the front page 20 hours later.

It's like the local guys are on the ETSU payroll.

No other opinions in that article other than ETSU screwed up.

Clearly they weren't interviewing the right Buc fans. No wonder they dont allow comments on articles. After i read that i was smh.
