RE: Future Basketball Schedule
I wouldn't mind seeing Gonzaga added to the schedule. Memphis has had a good OOC thing with them, I think they are pretty much a name brand school. I have seen many UL fans on their board that want the UC/UL series to return.

RE: Future Basketball Schedule
Would you rather do another home and home with Nebraska or Murray State? I know my answer. West Virginia went to NKU this year and I think they're going back in a couple years. I'd say Murray is light years better than that.

A schedule of @VCU, @Xavier, Butler, @Murray State and the Barclays Classic wiil be a really solid OOC schedule. You might be able to add Michigan to that list but no one seems to have the answer on that, I'm getting the feeling Butler is replacing that game but we'll see.

Murray St. is not better perception wise than say Indiana, Iowa, UL, Maryland, N.C. ST., Villanova, UCLA, Arizona, Wisky, WVA., K.St. Okla. etc., surely they can get a couple of teams in this category to play UC. We keep scheduling all mid- majors, well you know, you are the company you keep. Don't say your list above is not all mid-majors, three years ago all UC fans were calling those teams mid-majors.

No disrespect intended, but to use your own logic... What is in it for the P5 teams to play a UC team that is usually on the verge of being ranked but is not a P5? If perception is all you suggest and the AAC is perceived as lowly as we all believe, why would someone who might be on the bubble or in the 7-10 seed range take a chance and schedule a team that has AAC next to its name? Forget UC's RPI (apparently it doesn't matter), forget that UC is a tourney team usually (but not a "Sweet 16") what do we offer those teams to go on the road to a place where UC is extremely hard to beat?

IMO, the athletic dept and the hoops coaching staff have done a great job of scheduling this team with an occasional off year every now and then. Our RPI, our numerous tourney invites and the development of our teams shows it. Especially the mid to lower tier P5s want to be careful about their OOC games so that they don't limit their chances at the Big Dance. We were there and said the exact same thing as members of the BE.

Great post, but don't expect a response. The "Bro" apparently knows more than all others on this board.

Sarcasm.03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao Which game interests you the most-- UC vs Murray St. or UC vs. Indiana. How about UC vs. VCU or UC vs. UL. How about UC vs. Butler or UC vs UCLA. See what I mean, we all know about rpi , bpi, kenpom and sagarin but playing national programs raises the status and fills the stands.

If Indiana was willing to play us, they would be on the schedule. Same goes for Louisville. I do think we will eventually play Louisville again, but the fact they are not on the schedule now is not for lack of trying. Mick has publicly stated he talked to Pitino about it and was turned down because Louisville has a series starting next year with Memphis. I would love to play Indiana, Ohio State, and Kentucky, but those teams don't want to play us.

Our schedule is going to be very good next year. Xavier, VCU, and Butler should all be top 50 type teams. Murray State has a chance to be as well. If we get a shot at Nebraska, I expect them to be better. I don't know much about Tennessee or George Washington, but we could do a lot worse. I also wouldn't be surprised if Mick is working hard to bring another quality opponent to Fifth Third.

RE: Future Basketball Schedule
Perception will be created by the ESPN talking heads going forward and they've relegated every non-P5 conference to mid-major, including the entire new Big East. Is it fair and accurate? Not really. But until the parole board releases UC from the AAC, non-conference scheduling of P5 teams will be tougher than ever. The Bearcats' tournament resume will be dependent upon finding high RPI "mid-majors" pre-conference and hoping that UCONN, SMU, Temple and Memphis uphold their end of the bargain as winning, high profile programs.

Honestly I am good with both. Home and homes against either Nebraska or Murray State are not the problem with our schedule or anybody elses. I certainly prefer them to buy games against 300 RPI teams.

Our scheduling has been really good overall and I'm not going to lose my mind about one or 2 series I disagree with.

Murray St is better perception wise than scheduling some directional, sub 300 rpi school. I would rather play them than the usual dregs in December. Let's stop acting as if IU, UofL, UK, UCLA, AZ, WVU, OSU, are beating down our doors to play us. UC has asked IU, UofL, OSU, and UK in the past and were told to go pound sand. UC does have a series with Mich coming up. Scheduling is not as easy as calling a school and magically the deal is done.

As for national perception - win games in March and the nation takes notice, regardless of who is on the sched.
