We are a attractive an option. That doesn't mean we are a shoe in for any FBS conference but we are FBS ready, in a good location and have no issues affording FCOA. The hang ups for LU on this board aren't universal even if some might be legitimate. The public vs private issue is legitimate for SBC schools. Since CUSA isn't all public that's not a issue for them. I would still rather be in the SBC than CUSA since the SBC is a southern conference.

Same time every year. Right before March madness happens and it will end after June. It will continue for Umass till July.

Great. That means the SBC won't be bothered with them.

RE: AD Says Liberty Good Expansion Candidate
This is all fine and dandy, but why would CUSA take another member from the east? They need a member from the west to help with their divisions, and I do not believe the west members would vote to accept another team from the east, as it would just be more travel for them, so I don't see Liberty or JMU getting the nod.

If I could guess who CUSA would look at, it would be between ULL, Texas State, NMSU, or even Missouri State. CUSA needs a western team, while the Belt needs an eastern team.

Agree with you in all respects. I think the most likely outcomes:
1. C-USA awaits to see the eventual fate of the UAB decision/re-study. We operated with 13 this year, and are planning on it next year. We can wait. It's not ideal, but can do. I think most C-USA fans are hoping for this outcome.
2. If we do expand due to UAB's departure, it will be a West Team. My guess...just looking at a map (and i have no idea if they are even interested) is Arkansas State. They fill in the gap better, and would be a fine addition to the C-USA line up. Yes, there are other good candidates, but to me that makes the most sense.
3. I don't see Missouri State as an outcome possibility for C-USA. No disrespect intended at all. Just don't think they are on Banowski's radar.

I have no inside track at all...just guessing like everyone else.

No way.

No way CUSA stays together in its current format beyond the next few years.

I'm calling it now.

One of 2 things will happen.

1) A few CUSA West schools join the MWC. CUSA kills the SBC.

2) All of CUSA West leaves with autobid intact and forms a new league with a select few other schools. CUSA kills the SBC.

So does this mean that this offseason it is CUSA's turn to deal with the Liberty pushers?

Someone admitting what some of us have said in the face of ignorance for years. TV sets in a market mean nothing if those sets never turn to a team in that market.

Couldn't agree more; however, you look at CUSA's recent expansion choices, and you can see that they're very much about the "market." Not sure they even care if the sets are "on" or not . . . .

Just to play Devil's Advocate, and just cause I'd like to see the Liberty discussion around here end. They could take Liberty, even though they're in the east, then do a minor shuffle of the conference to balance their divisions . . . . May not be ideal, but it could be done . . . .
You're welcome, Liberty . . .

Does this mean CUSA calls South Alabama to keep a presence in Alabama?

I am assuming that La Tech will not want ULL in the conference.

Also Texas State could get the call but wonder if UNT cancels out a UTSA yes vote.

I think UTEP will push for NMSU.

The pecking order will probably be oriented from the CUSA east perspective:

South Alabama (votes from USM, FIU, FSU)
Georgia State (for presence in Georgia)
Appalachian State for
New Mexico State
Arkansas State

...

I think the only current, SBC FB schools left holding the bag when this is all over are Idaho, ULM and Troy.
