When that happens, it frees up all that big 12 money for Fox to spend elsewhere. They wont be buying up all of The Big Ten's rights so they will be able to pay top dollar for what they would be buying.

Am I following you correctly if I said that your stance is that you want to wait until Fox no longer has the XII contract, so they can spend everything on the B1G contract?

It is my opinion that such is the only way it actually happens. If FOX does not agree to not seek damages when the big 12 dissolves then The Big Ten likely does not agree to split T1 rights with them and ESPN.

It is a naturally powerful negotiation tactic that would free up the big 12 to dissolve.

For me personally, I know the power of ESPN propaganda. I wouldn't want the relationship with them to weaken. If The Big Ten ends up with Oklahoma and Kansas though then it would be feasible for me to make that move.

Two thoughts on it:
FOX would have to sublease either some of its Big 12 games or Big Ten games to ESPN to make it work.
FOX would have to use FSN and FS2 to make it work as well. A FSN/FS2 simulcast would make sense in terms of homes and help grow the FS2 brand as well, but still have plenty of carriage.

Didn't CBS announce it is not renewing its contract with the SEC? I could see ABC getting the SEC Tier 1, and perhaps ESPN would be content to let the Big 10 walk. The potential complication for Fox is if ESPN starts an ACC Network, which frees up inventory for the rest of the ESPN family.

No, they said they were not opening up their contract or buying more games due to SEC expansion - as buying more games would mean the SEC would want to charge more per game. So they kept the existing deal as is (note ESPN more or less did the same, other than adding the SEC Network). Their deal is not up for a dozen years, so I doubt they would or piss off a partner they are stuck with for 12 or so more years.

The biggest profit would probably be made by splitting the Big-10 inventory into two packages and selling one to ESPN and one to Fox (similar to the PAC-12 deal). NBC is also willing to pay a premium price for premium inventory (they actually had the highest bid by a single network for the PAC-12, it took a team ESPN/Fox bid to win the package).

Question: will you (assuming you care) still be able to watch your local NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox affiliates? If so, how?

It is a strange device called an Antenna. Apparently it must be a new thing but it supposedly allows you to get free network TV. 04-chairshot
