Why doesn't Arkansas St just go ahead and announce there are going to play there during the season some when Arkansas fully abandons WMS in the coming years. I'm sure Stephens Inc. is going to bank roll this bowl as Warren is/was a proponent of Arkansas to continue to play there.
Grow some balls and play Ark St. You may actually be able to hang with them now.

Any time that the Liberty Bowl threatens to take their bowl elsewhere if we don't give them their way should look at this new bowl (and the 20 or so others that have started it the last 10 years)
If a city/stadium wants a bowl they just start one, no need to woo the Liberty Bowl.

Early December starting in 2015 or 2016.
5th tie in for SBC, and big for recruiting.
Estimated payout?
I'm not for more bowls. The more we add the less they mean and most teams at that level lose money. I see the advantages for the SBC but we need to decertify not add.
Every bowl outside of the playoff means nothing to anyone outside of the programs playing and their fans. If cities want to host bowls, TV wants to air them and I get to watch my team play another game while enjoying some food and beverage then I don't see any downside at all.
I want bowls that are close enough for my team to easily travel and that present decent opponents if possible. I have little interest in playing in bowls that require the fans to fly to an empty stadium in the middle of the week.
I don't fault you for having that stance. But in my opinion Minor bowls have less meaning and impact the more they add. Remember the talk before we accepted the Miami Bowl. Even after a long absence from the bowl scene a lot of people would not travel to Birmingham.
You may get some uptick for being closer but closer is also less attractive for most minor bowls. Better than nothing in most cases but in some cases not much better.
And the losing money thing stings.

Huh? Did you guys go to Birmingham? I know not many travelled to Miami. Losing money? Distant games are the ones you lose money playing. Ask anyone who has accepted a bid to the Hawaii Bowl. Closer bowls are MUCH better if you are not in a contract bowl or playing a New Year's Day type against a P5 opponent. A bowl game in some far off location in the middle of the week is better than nothing but in most cases it is the very bottom option.

I tried to you space but you're not listening and adding crap I didn't say. Try this.
No we didn't go to Birmingham and nobody wanted to even though it was close.
Yes we went to Miami because of the date and the bowl was considered the best AAC bowl and it paid more money.
New weenie bowls mostly pay a max $750,000 if all ticket sales goals are met which never happens.
Hawaii Bowl? That's the most expensive trip out there and there only two reason to go. It's a great trip for the players and the few fans who can afford it or you don't have any other place to go.
Too many bowls have made going meaningless, it's oversaturated the market and exist only to market cities and suck up some tourist dollars when tourist would otherwise never go. It's better than staying home and better than a stick in the eye.
Glad you love it. I don't. There's room for both our opinions in this world.

RE: New Bowl Game in Little Rock matching AAC and SBC
To me, it just reinforces the difference in the two conferences and programs. Arkansas State and the SBC look at it as a great thing because it's another good bowl for them, a recruiting tool and a boost to the program. Memphis and the AAC sed it as the lowest bowl tie-in and anything less than a bowl against a P5 or quality opponent is nothing to get excited about. It won't boost recruiting, bowl status or ending of the year opponent level. We would hope to never play in that game unless the payout is MUCH higher and is against the SBC champ.... nah, still would rather play a P5 opponent!! It is what it is....
