All-Conference Teams
AAC All-Conference Teams
Octavius: 2nd team
Troy: honorable mention
Gary: All-Rookie team
With how balanced this team has been, I can't really argue with that.

We were far too balanced, and green to really have many players crack the first and second teams. I do think that Clark should have got an honorable mention.

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed too. Not sure what's going on there... Gary is going to be special though. He'll be all over that **** by the time he's done at UC.
Now, Larry Davis better win Coach of the Year.

While I think he should considering what he went through, probably will go to Haith and I bet Larry Brown is 2nd. Davis a distant 3rd.

Didn't see Fran Dunphy of Temple as Coach of the Year. Wow!

Larry Davis got hosed. That being said, I could understand if they named SMU's or Tulsa's coach COY. But Dunphy?

8 wins last year to a tournament team, yeah, he's more than deserving. LD lost to ECU and Tulane, he did well, but I don't think he's more deserving than Dunphy or Haith (Larry Brown turned a good team into a good team, no way he deserved it).

Exactly. It's not who the best team in the league is, it's who did the best coaching job.
I'd say Temple's turnaround to a bubble team this season more than qualifies.

How many times have you seen an assitant coach fill in for a sick/injured HC in CBB and guide the team to a 22 win season? Especially a team that had lost three starters from the year prior and was inexperienced?

Yes, but Temple has to make the tournament imo.
I'm still shocked that Gary wasn't a unanimous decision for the all-rookie team. That's what bothers me the most.

I don't think the precedent has really been set for that, but many of us on here have admitted that he mismanaged his way into a few loses and went 14-7 as a coach including two TERRIBLE loses. He did very well, especially given the team he had being so young and being really thrown into the fire at the absolute worst time (an hour before a game against a Top 25 team at home), but I think turning around Temple from where they were last year (8 scholarship players, 3 of whom graduated, another transferred from a 9-22 team) to where they are now (beating Kansas, tournament bubble, tough game EVERY time) is way more impressive.

It's dumb that Dunphy gets so much credit for a "turnaround." He was also the coach when they were crappy!
