Is #4 seed a bracket jinx?
Trying to be optimistic, I thought being the #4 seed might be advantageous - playing the #1 seed in the semi rather than the final. So I looked back at the brackets and since being played in Cleveland for the last 15 years, the #4 seed only advanced to the finals twice, winning once. Ironically, the only #4 seed to win did so by beating the #1 seed in the semi-finals and guess who was the #1 seed? that's right. Toledo. The format was changed three years ago to get the #1 seed through and it has worked as planned all three years. In fact, the last two it's been #1 v. #2. In 2010 the #4 seed had its best chance by playing the #9 seed in the Semi's and lost. The first year in cleveland (2000) the #4 seed was knocked out by the #13 seed in the first round. The last five years the #4 seed made it to the Semi finals but before that it was eliminated early five times in ten years. Finally, Toledo has been the #4 seed three times and #1 twice. We've also made the finals twice. It sure would be nice to bookend these stats and our jinx with a victory and a NCAA appearance.

If toledo doesn't win it won't be because they're the 4 seed...

I would argue that The University of Toledo is a bracket jinx.

Of course there is no guarantee Toledo will even get past Thursday night and if they do, there certainly no guarantee Toledo can put together enough perimeter defense to get past CMU (although the third time could be the charm)------however, having said all that, frankly Buffalo and Kent scare me more that CMU, especially Buffalo who Toledo defeated earlier this season only by shooting lights out all game with 14 of 16 from three point land---and I don't see that happening again should they meet in the finals. I also suspect Moss is overdue to make a definitive statement against his former team and deliver a W to his new team at the expense UT.

If we get to Friday I think we have an advantage of being loose and warmed up for CMU. Its the third day in a row Fatigue starts to show.

I like the Idea of not playing the first game in the Semifinal FOR THIS TEAM this may help them in winning the whole thing.

What seed did Western have last year. Didn't they have to win Thurs., Fri., and Saturday to make it to the Dance?

Plus, all the pressure will be on Central. It's real hard to beat a team 3 times in one season. Go Rockets!!!!!!

Assuming UB and UT make it through to the finals and in keeping with the thread title, UB has never won a MAC tourney, nor has the #2 seed - and that's out of seven tries since the tourney has been in Cleveland. Yep, the two seed is 0 for 7 while the four seed is 2 for 2.
