RE: CUSA MVP?
Do adults post on this board?
It really doesn't bother, it's just odd that coaches could vote for a player that isn't even in the top 5 in the CUSA as the player of the year (and not the best player on his own team). If Hunter won POY, I think that would be perfectly understandable.
I don't really think coaches put a ton of thought into the process. How else can the Big East name Ryan Arcidiacono as co-Big East player of the year?

So, is this a smack talk board or a discussion board. If it's a smack talk board, I'm perfectly fine with bowing out and letting children carry on with pointless insults.
I guess LT is really upset they can't beat us....

That could quite possibly be the dumbest post I have ever read on here.
A great point guard is invaluable in the game of basketball, and that's what Speedy is. He makes everyone around him better and puts his teammates in position to make plays. Whether it is to score points or to grab a steal that he causes. Not to mention the intangibles - controlling the flow of the game, hustle, drive, leadership. Everything Speedy does on the court makes a "recognizable impact on the performance of his team"

Is this arbitrary enough for you:
Speedy leads the NCAA in assists not just the CUSA but all of NCAA basketball.
Speedy is 10th in the NCAA in assist to turnover ratio one of the most meaningful stats for a point guard

SO you believe he won the award because of his intangibles?
So, if he makes his teammates much better, and his drive, hustle, flow control, and leadership makes such an impact, why is the team only 2 points better when he is on the court than when he is off the court?

Didn't the ODU fan post that Speedy had a horrible turnover rate? 29% You know, he'd really suck if he never shot and had another 6 assists a game. His TOV would be around 95%.

Coaches and former athletes are the best at voting for awards.
That's why I don't ever put much stock in press or sports writers awards because most have never played competitive basketball and don't understand the game. They just look at the stat sheet

You may want to read the definition of Box plus/minus and come back and give a report on it. It is not what you seem to think it is.

now we are on the same page - if you guys would have stopped 2 days ago - say congratulation and move on, we would have a much better environment around here. But no, you guys have been dragging it out - crying over something that you just can't and won't understand. If you act like an adult, you will get treated like one.

Tied for first yesterday with 7.5 when I look it up, it fluctuates from game to game.

On the day he was named Conference MVP, he was tied for the national lead in assists with 7.5 per game. Since then, a two players had big games in their tournaments. Forgive him for quoting a stat that changes daily.

Can you proved Smith has more hustle, leadership, and grit than Freeman?

You guys are worse than my 2 years old - won't stop crying until you get what you want.
What else do they have to do? They certainly don't have a game to watch today...
After all this talk of stats, I think we should just remind ourselves of how funny this was.

Voters love winners - Freeman isn't one until he wins something for ODU.
I don't see UTEP fans complaining when per stats and perception, Hunter should have a better case than Freeman.
I guess someone from UAB or Mt should be POY. They are winners

UAB beat LT with a starting lineup that went frosh-frosh-soph-soph-jr... bench players were frosh-soph-soph-sr... this is a UAB team that lost to UNC-Pembroke, ULM, USF, & UTC before conference play started. I can't believe we are in the final. Regardless of the outcome Sat, this is a special bunch and will continue to be for seasons to come. Coach Haase is the real MVP.

UAB is going to be even better the next 2-3 years. I truly hope they will be representing C*USA during that time and beyond. Good luck!

That's nuts. 2-3 years of good basketball if they only keep getting better.
