Wink Ode to the WTF Loss
Since we've all been talking about WTF losses, I thought I'd do a little research to show where we stand.

Despite achieving our first 1st round bye in four years, we enter the C*USA tournament with a current RPI of 172 and a paltry 2 Top 100 wins. This year, we also suffered 2 WTF losses (100-199) and an unprecedented 5 Super-WTF losses (200+). So, what's a WTF loss worth?

Had we won all 7 WTF games this season, we'd be 23-8, with an RPI of 67. Still not good enough to be in contention for an at-large, but a solid NIT team.

Two of these WTF losses (ULM and USF at home) would not happen at this point in the season. That's a testament to the growth of our team. Out of our 6 road losses, two (LT/UTEP) were "good" road losses, and the rest were super-WTFs. Clean those up next season, and we're well on our way.

Here's the historical view on WTF losses:

2015: 2 WTFs, 5 Super-WTFs
2014: 4 WTFs, 4 Super-WTFs
2013: 6 WTFs, 1 Super-WTF
2012: 3 WTFs, 1 Super-WTF
2011 (last NCAA/1st round bye appearance): 2 WTFs, 0 Super-WTFs
2010: 2 WTFs, 0 Super WTFs

As you can see, avoiding the horrid losses (USF/UNT/Rice/F_U) is all the difference. If we can learn to finish these games, our program will return to its rightful place.

We've been through this before (2000-2002). I hope the guys come out swinging this week and finish strong. Win or lose, I'm proud of the way they've battled the ups and downs of what to them is a very long season. This team could've easily mailed it in and cruised to 11-20.

I agree and am proud as well. I will add that it also shows alot about the character of these guys to keep fighting despite the challenges, not just with the way the season was going early on but also with the football situation and future conference affiliation situation hanging over their heads.

In spite of that, this was (from a conference standpoint) one of our more successful seasons ever.

Indeed. It's a shame the guys couldn't obtain a 13th regular season win for the first time in school history. Nonetheless, they've fought hard. Seeing as the tournament is not in Norfolk, Bossier City, Texas or Florida, I think we've got a shot. The whole season has come down to this moment.

While this is quite possibly the weakest our conference has ever been, we have the youngest starting five we've had in a long time as well. Not having Tosin inside really hurt us this week, but I think we'd all rather him be healthy for the tournament.

I'm hoping this was a wake-up call for our team.

The team hasn't played well the last three weeks. I think they hit their peak around the 12th conference game and they have been backsliding ever since.

RE: Ode to the WTF Loss
It's time for the backslide to end! Let's beat the winner of either WKU or Marshall, both teams we BLEW OUT in Bartow, on Thursday evening just a few miles up the road, and go into the semi-final on Friday the 13th with our 13th regular-season conference win!!

Tosin will be back and it will be GLORIOUS! Florida may have sucked big fat eggs but I can feel it!
