RE: murphy
Not too many people have raved about Murphy's recruiting, that I have observed. To the contrary, many have criticized him for shortsightedness in recruiting transfers (and to a lesser extent not making MI inroads). I am one of those who DISAGREEs with that criticism, but I at least see the point that it would be ideal to get quality talent as freshman. More time to develop chemistry and what not- and who can argue how great it is that we have Raven Lee for 2 MORE YEARS.

But you also need to get the best talent available. Did Murphy take transfers over high quality freshman- ie, taking shortcuts. Or did he take transfers that were higher quality than the freshman available to him ever were going to be? No one knows this for sure one way or the other.

As Luckyone and 79 point out, there is alot of talent on the team last year and this year. They underperformed in the MAC both years. I don't think this is the consequence of their being transfers without chemistry or understanding of the system since they played better to start the season both years. So I would assume the underperformance is the result of the coaching deficiencies.

Murphy might be too stubborn to adjust his coaching or he may be incapable of adequately learning from his mistakes. He will get the remainder of his contract to prove otherwise. In the meantime, I will be rooting for EMU to do their best!!

We're at the doorsteps of back-to-back 20 win seasons.
We made th conference semi-final last year.
Ray Lee, a Murphy recruit out of high school, was the third leading scorer in the MAC this year.
Tim Bond came on strong at the end of the year after missing a good chunk of the season due to injury (a high school recruit).
Possibly the best PG recruit in the state is committed to EMU.

I guess I have to ask, what would you like to see to be impressed Super? I know that things might not be where you want to be, but in just wins and losses we're way ahead of where we we've been at any other point in the 21st century.

Weak schedule weak wins. if you only go win lose record it looks great! If you lokk who those wins loses are against it's pathetic!
You're not answering the question though.
What is it that you want to see? What would it take to impress you?

Quality freshmen! You cant build a team with mainly transfers. 07-coffee3

Speaking of quality freshman...Iowa HS basketball finals going on this week in downtown Des Moines...across the street from me and the city's best player: G Chris King from Hoover High School is still available. He is dynamic, Murphy should make an offer today! Murphy snagged Brandon Nazione from Des Moines Area Comm College, King is going to be a really good MAC or MO Valley player.

Bob, do you ever think things through before posting?

http://www.prephoopsiowa.com/prospects-2015-chris-king

He appears to be a PG who is borderline D-1 at best, probably JUCO or D2.

Like we have 3 who can play PG: Bond, Alvano and recruit Stone.

Why take another PG???????? We have so many other needs at Sf, C, PF....

I've seen him outplay Michael Jacobson of Waukee--a Nebraska recruit. He is All State and a possible Mr. Basketball for the state of Iowa. I've only recommended one other player whom I've seen with my own eyes--Jordan Lauff. Steve, trust me this kid is the real deal and he gets after it defensively. According to my eyes, he's as fast as Talley.

Sorry, no more PGs...

Does he have grades? I'm guessing that's why he is being recruited JUCO....

JUCO and D2 if you saw the schools listed.
