The home teams have to guarantee 50k to host in CBI or 30k in the CIT. If an athletic department is super flush with $ , maybe no big deal. Considering the feedback on this board, hard to imagine buying a home game would be a good investment considering a large faction wants the coach gone and there is little interest in watching this team play more. Buying Brady his 20th win and trying to add some momentum to the team seems more plausible earlier on in his tenure.

That game at Davidson was a tough situation. You had a Kenpom top 100 team that year but were upset in first round by William and Mary and don't think Bowles was 100%. If I remember you may not have even practiced much that week leading up to the CBI. This team has a bit more heart and I think would put forth a good faith hard effort if the season continues.

There's a vocal fraction...not necessarily a "large" fraction...of JMU posters who want MB gone. But I agree with Philly that JMU won't play in the CIT/CIB (if offered) if JMU is not going to retain Matt.

I would think and hope that would be the case.

With that in mind, Brady said his team will begin practicing again either Thursday night or Friday. Players are on Spring Break right now.

Nothing official to report on that front as of yet, though Brady said "we'll know in another day or two."

JMU coach Matt Brady said today "we feel very comfortable we're going to continue to play again" in regards to a potential CIT or CBI bid.

I agree with the need to play any more games just for player experience if anything. These 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier postseason tournaments are pointless, but you're right, any exposure is better than no game at all.
I hope JMU isn't losing too much money on this minimal exposure though. I personally wouldn't be heartbroken if we played in/didn't play in these games.

It's a no brainer. It doesn't mean much in terms of wins and losses, no one really notices these tournament but it's a way to get more time as a team in an NCAA system where time is limited.

I don't really see the point in playnig in either the CBI/CIT tournaments. If the team had shown up in the CAA tournament after a week of prep I might feel differently. But they looked in-different in the CAA tournament blow-out.

Having said that I totally support a 10 day - 2 week trip to Europe in the summer to play and bring the team together for the 2015-2016 season. I think those trips really get the ball rolling to start a new season.

CIT Bid
Not all years afford a team to travel and practice overseas. I think MBB teams can do this once every four years. You guys are crazy for not wanting our team to have valuable tournament experience. Look at the list of teams who have won the CiT since it's inception...

Odu (made NCAAs following year), Missouri state (made NIT the following year), Santa Clara (went 26-12 the next season with CBI tournament championship), mercer (made NIT in 2 years and NCAAs in 3 years with upset over Duke) ECU (played in CIT following year), Murray state (could be in as an at large to NCAAs... At very least will be in NIT)...

I'm all for it. There's not going to be a sweet sixteen run for Jmu this year - get over it. We're not some badass program that should be thumbing our noses at a solid mid major tourney. And the kids played hard so give them a shot to get 20+ wins.

RE: CIT Bid
After the humiliating Davidson loss everyone question Brady for not practiucing during Spring Break.

The team looked awful, completely out played and out coached.

Agreed. If you have the opportunity to play in the CIT or CBI you make it happen.

RE: CIT Bid
CBI has less teams (16) but will include some P5 conference teams. Usually those teams are .500 (or worse) level though. CIT takes 32 teams and is exclusively for mid-major or low-major schools.

Nope. Ncaa>anything else>nit>cbi>cit
The cit is only mid-major programs, while the others have power teams playing in them.
Nothing better than a 4th tier tournament!

RE: CIT Bid
This debate is hilarious, because to this day there are still some Davidson fans who think it was beneath Davidson to play in the CIT. Even though the coach always speaks highly of the experience for the team. He didn't want to go into the next conference tournament with a squad that had never one a tournament game. The team had two first round conference tourney flame outs and an 0-3 showing in the Charleston Classic. This group of players then won two consecutive SoCon tourneys and the coach says it helped, so I will take his word for it.

By the way, season ticket holders didn't have to buy tickets and I got to sit in a great seat for the game against JMU, even better than my regular Davidson seat which is pretty sweet already.

If we do go to the CIT or whatever I hope we can at least put in a good effort. Yet another (although, do we need another?) opportunity to see how MB can get these guys up for a game. Lefty Driesell is apparently on the CIT Selection Committe, which I didn't even know existed. Looks like 11 (including NJIT&Dartmouth lol) teams have accepted bids to the CIT per Wikipedia

StFU is in, maybe we'll be matched up and continue our budding sports rivalry! Jokes aside, I still hope we play and also hope it will be a valuable experience
