2 reasons why I started this thread so early...

1. Memphis ganked the FAU thread from me yesterday (I was asleep at the wheel).
2. I need to get yesterday out of my brain.

In my opinion, we match up well with FIU. Diaz, their center, is a solid defender but hardly an offensive threat. We handled him well in Bham and eventually fouled him out.

Mavin is the real deal. He's going to get his points. The rest of their players who get minutes are pretty average. They can hit the 3 on occasion. They dropped 13 at Charlotte.

I did see a couple of positive things in Boca. CJ hit some nice jumpers off the bench. He is really starting to play his role consistently. Also, Madison is becoming a very consistent spark plug off the bench. Our first 4 out (CJ, Madison, Cokley, Watts) are the best bench in the league, IMO.

Prediction: UAB 70 FIU 62

FIU just beat Middle Tennessee last night by about seven, I think. This is not a game we can take lightly and expect to win. Hopefully we learned a very valuable lesson last night.

I hope they learned a lesson as well. It's time they did. All of these one possession losses have to be demoralizing

They really need this win. They are young and vulnerable.

This game has no meaning. We'll still get a top 4 seed.

UAB needs to win the FIU game in order to end the season on a positive note going into the "second season" at the BJCC. How we play Saturday may set the tone for how we play in the first game of the tournament.
