We need to get a hockey team going in the convo center. Why did this never happen?? I would think you could fit this in the lower bowl pretty easy.

It's called money. Converting the lower part of the Convo into a rink would cost a small fortune. And, then you have to be able to switch back surfaces back and forth for basketball. Not gonna happen. And that's coming from a huge fan of hockey.

Western Michigan, Miami and BG all have dedicated rinks just for hockey and skating activities. That's the only way to go. I'd love to see NIU upgrade their hockey program to intercollegiate level. But, without a deep-pocketed donor that's also a hockey fan, it won't happen.

Since that's Ken Hitchcock (the Blues coach) and, if that picture was taken in St. Louis, EddieMoney may know that guy. Eddie has season tickets for Blues games.

Rational, intelligent thinking would mean you would know it's not easy to add one of the most expensive sports, especially at a school where the vast majority of students, alumni and fans already could care less about three-fourths of the athletic program. We're talking millions of dollars that are needed elsewhere. Seriously, without using the internet, how many NCAA programs does NIU actually have and can you name them?

Why did this never happen?

Unless you mean Floor Hockey...do you have any idea of the cost?

I always thought an outdoor game at Huskie Stadium between Rockford and the Wolves would be awesome and a good draw with how big the Hawks are. Also would generate some good revenue in the offseason when HS isn't being used.

That is a terrific idea and with the numbers the Wolves & Ice Hogs are drawing; it might be a sellout. Wolves are 2nd in the AHL with 8200 and Rockford gets 4750 which is alot for that market.

Probably in St. Louis, as the most recent game between the two teams was there.
