It'a about athletic probation, not academic probation.

Well I mean, in a sense so was the Penn State fiasco. I mean it involved the athletic department, but nothing on the field, or having to do with the eligibility of any players. And they were hammered worse than any team in any sport since SMU football. They were hit worse than Baylor basketball after the murder incident and coverup of details.

The NCAA does not apply penalties on this stuff with any kind of consistency. It is so damned random, it is sickening.

And for you folks pounding on Memphis and now UK with Cal in the past and present ad naseum - Why hasn't the NCAA been able to pin him down hard like this? Is he just teflon, smarter, what?

Maybe he hasn't broken any rules.

That was my point.

That reads like an appeal --- which, of course, is a right Syracuse has.

Doesn't read like they will sue though. On what grounds would they sue?

The NCAA has historically been terrible to SMU & UConn, two "upstart" schools threatening the blue bloods.

Good luck against the NCAA. I hope you whip their ass.

I used to believe this myself as well. That they pick on upstarts or the likes of say like Memphis, that I pull for. But I think they are just a wildly inconsistent group; now that the P5 has autonomy I believe the NCAA is going to become a shell.

They are very inconsistent. USC and Bama got nuked, and deserved it. The NCAA doesn't always let the Big Boys off the hook.

If they dont bring the hammer down on Cuse then Cuse should sue and raise hell about them doing nothing about North Carolina over much worse allegations.

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think that's a viable legal theory in court to say "Look at them - they were worse". But maybe what you say could work in arbitration.

I just wish the NCAA was consistent instead of beating up on the non-blue bloods and letting the blue bloods get away with murder.

RE: Cuse NCAA Announcement Today
In another update.

Cuse shredded their roster and got down to 10 scholies this year from 13 due to the original penalty. The NCAA has decided that the 3 cut this year will yield them a credit of 1 scholie to use in the last year (18-19).

So instead of 12 originally dictated, it was cit down to 8 over 4 years. Now Cuse will have 5 total to cut over the next three seasons

So 10 scholies in 15-16, 11 in 16-17, 11 in 17-18, 12 in 18-19, 13 in 19-20.

Congrats that should help greatly and eases the transition to Hopkins.
Also it makes me furious that uconns Apr ban was upheld but I'll save that for when I bump into Walt Harrison or Mark Emmert.

UConn obviously did it all wrong. The penalty for falsifying stats is much less than reporting accurate ones that are below the APR threshold. The NCAA is clear: LIE, you stupid idiots.

Then again, UConn couldn't have known that the NCAA would change the rules retroactively. They were under the assumption that rules were rules.

Tell us...Cuse has been investigated for a decade and they throw the book at Boeheim under a new clause adopted 2 years ago. They make up sh!t as they go along.
