Also, our AD left for family reasons. He's been trying to get back to California for a while now.

Nevertheless, he left UMASS in a precarious predicament....

The real issue is commish Benson, believe he went to bat for a UMass Football only and a championship game. The issue is Benson has burnt his influence getting Idaho and NMSU in and alienated some Sun Belt teams.

Will pm Panite with one other thing. In the end if we continue to improve in Football and BB stays solid, we'll have options.

The issue is UMASS, not Benson. All Benson could to was present UMASS football then it would be the conference members decision on inviting UMASS as a football only member. It has nothing to do with having a conference championship game. If a championship game was the goal the Sun Belt could invite JaxSt or Liberty today.
It just bothers me that Underdog said he had no plan. He checked many things with the AAC as the goal Temporary plan A was the Sun Belt, plan B was independence for 2-3 years, plan C accept MAC invite.

Do agree with you and kind of disagree with the championship game as a Benson goal, not Sun Belt presidents goal.

Do think that if you get to 12 teams, you will have a championship game on the best team stadium.

Sounds like a sound plan to me. When the issue with UAB is finally decided for FB there will be movement again. If CUSA decides to keep UAB without FB UMass has an option here as a FB only. IF UAB remains in CUSA and FB returns UMass can re-approach the Sunbelt again for FB only. If CUSA cuts UAB loose without FB they pick up a Sunbelt team and UAB goes to the Sunbelt for BB and Olympic sports with UMass as an option for FB only to get the Sunbelt to 12 FB teams and the Conference Championship game.

If the B-12 ever expands taking Cinn and or UConn then UMass could be a NE AAC add to go with Temple and Navy.

If none of these options occur then UMass could always re-approach the MAC for all sports with James Madison to take the MAC to an even 14 teams. In the mean time UMass has the final year in the MAC and a couple of years as an independent to see how conference realignment works out going forward. Yes UMass has options and plans for its future.

Any Georgia Tech fans have an opinion of Ryan Bamford? Seems like an up and coming administrator who has regional ties. I like the idea that he oversee's an AAC FB team while also responsible for facilities. Not sure how strong he is on the marketing side of things but interesting nonetheless.
